   Corrosion resistance Torque stability Sizing capabilities NORGLIDE® SALC is a
   material that offers all three benefits. Our Stretched Aluminium Cladded
   material is a self-lubricated, low-friction PTFE with embedded metal
   reinforcement. The material has been developed primarily for rotational
   sliding bearings (bushings) applications. SALC has been especially developed
   for automotive side door hinge bearings. The corrosion-resistant

   Why is understanding torque important? First, we need to understand what
   torque is. Torque is a term from physics and mechanics and describes the
   force needed for rotational movement. It is measured in Newton meters
   (Nm). The original concept was created by Archimedes during his studies on
   the usage of levers. The rotational force (torque τ) – needed to turn a joint
   – is dependent from the length of the lever: τ = r x F, the longer the lever
   (r) the lower the force (F). The dimension of torque is Nm or kg⋅m2⋅s−2. Our
   tailored-made components are often tasked to work within a specified torque
   range. And it’s something we can do, providing torque solutions ranging from
   0.2Nm up to >1,000Nm. Depending on the application, and with almost limitless

   Engineers that work with ball and roller bearings will know that the type of
   bearing mount used can have a big impact on performance, especially long-term
   performance. Using a Tolerance Ring as a bearing mount has multiple benefits.
   By working in conjunction with engineers we know how to adapt the design of
   the tolerance ring to support the application or system and prevent issues
   such as deformation, retention loss, and torque consistency. The one-piece,
   lightweight solution is a fresh approach to mounting bearings. The

   If the phrase “simple but effective” was invented for a specific component,
   it would be the sleeve bearing. Why? Because a sleeve bearing facilitates
   linear or rotational movement between two parts. They are also known as
   bushings, plain bearings or journal bearings. And unlike the rolling action
   of a ball bearing or roller bearing, the sleeve bearing has a sliding action.
   Because they are relatively low cost and maintenance-free, sleeve bearings
   are used in many applications. It also means that there are a large variety
   of off-the-shelf sleeve bearings available for engineers to select. The
   downside to this is when you need something exacting, something that fits
   your system precisely. At Saint-Gobain Mobility - Bearings, we don’t make
   standard parts. Every component is tailor-made to your requirements; this
   means you have flexibility of design AND performance. For example, in
   robotics for clean environments space can be limited, therefore components
   need to be smaller, they must also withstand deep, everyday cleaning so a
   corrosion resistant material can be selected. Grease and lubricants cannot be
   used as particle emissions need to be controlled, therefore using a PTFE
   layer to facilitate smooth movement and reduce maintenance is available.
