     is issued and may bereplaced only by other floor covering that provides

     conditioned air ducts located insound assemblies shall be lined.
     (Exception: Ductsservingonly exit ways, kitchen cooking facilities, and
     bathroomsneed not be lined).h. Mineral fiber insulation shall be installed
     in joist spaceswhenever a plumbing piping, or duct penetrates
     afloor-ceilingassembly or where such unit passes through the planeof the
     floor-ceiling assembly from within a wall. Theinsulationshall be installed
     to a point 12" beyond the pipe or duct.This requirement is not applicable
     to fire sprinkler pipe,gasline or electrical conduit.i. Electrical outlet
     boxes in opposite faces of separationwalls shall be separated horizontally
     by 24" and notethat back and sides of boxes will be sealed with
     1/8"resilient sealant and backed by a minimum of 2" thickmineral

     1. All entry doors to dwelling units or guest rooms shallbe arranged so
     that the occupant has a view of the areaimmediately outsidethe door without
     opening the door. Such view may beprovided by a door viewer, through
     windows located inthe vicinity of the dooror through view ports in the door
     or adjoining wall.(6706)2. Screens, barricades, or fences made of a
     materialwhich would preclude human climbing shall be providedat every
     portion of everyroof, balcony, or similar surface which is within 8 ft.

     non-removable hinge pins. Hinges shall have min.1/4" dia. steel jambstud
     with 1/4" min. protection. The strike plate forlatches and holding device
     for projecting dead bolts inwood construction shall besecured to the jamb
     and the wall framing with screws noless than 2-1/2" long. (6709.5,
     6709.7)6. Provide dead bolts with hardened inserts; deadlockinglatch with
     key-operated locks on exterior. Doors must beoperable from theinside
     without a key, special knowledge, or special effort(latch not required in

     (6716)26. 1. A masonry or factory-built fireplace shall have thefollowing:

     combustion-air intake is notrequired if the fireplace will be installed
     overconcrete slab flooring and the fireplace will not belocated on an

     Lighting [150.0(k)]a. Installed luminaires shall be classified
     ashigh-efficacy in accordance with TABLE 150.0-A.b. Exhaust fans shall be
     switched separately fromlighting systems.c. Luminaries shall be switched
     with readilyaccessible controls that permit the luminaries to bemanually
     switched ON and OFF.d. Lighting installed in attached and detachedgarages,
     laundry rooms, and utility rooms, at leastone luminaire in each of these
     spaces shall becontrolled by vacancy sensors.e. Dimmers or vacancy sensors
     shall control allluminaires required to have light sources compliantwith
     Reference Joint Appendix JA8.EXCEPTION 1: Luminaires in closets less than
     70square feet.EXCEPTION 2: Luminaires in hallways.f. A. In a low-rise
     multifamily residential buildingwhere the total interior common area in a
     singlebuilding equals 20 percent or less of the floor area,permanently
     installed lighting for the interiorcommon areas in that building shall be

     equipment, appliances and buildingcomponents shall comply with the
     applicablemanufacturing, construction, and installationprovisions of
     Sections 110.0 through 110.11 for newlyconstructed buildings.6. Any
     appliance regulated by the Appliance EfficiencyRegulations, Title 20
     California Code of Regulations,Section 1601 et seq., may be installed only
     if theappliance fully complies with Section 1608(a) of thoseregulations.
     [110.1(a)]7. Service water-heating systems shall be equipped withautomatic
     temperature controls capable of adjustmentfrom the lowest to the highest
     acceptable temperaturesettings for the intended use as listed in Table

     On systems that have a total capacity greater than167,000 Btu/hr, outlets
     that require higher thanservice water temperatures as listed in the
