AN UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE

Driven by 4 tracks rather than wheels, the Mt. Washington SnowCoach transports
guests to treeline on the Mt. Washington Auto Road, at approximately 4,200 feet,
into a sub-arctic world for a truly unforgettable adventure. All tours are
narrated by our expert guides and the SnowCoaches are warm and comfortable.


WHAT TO EXPECT

SnowCoaches leave Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center and climb about two thirds of
the way to the summit of Mt. Washington via the Auto Road, gaining over 3,000
feet in elevation.

Upon arrival at this “Top of the Tour,” passengers are invited to exit the
SnowCoach for a few minutes for photos and video opportunities before climbing
back aboard for the downward journey back to the base.

At times views can be breathtaking overlooking the protected Great Gulf
Wilderness and the Presidential Mountain Range. At other times passengers can
experience the extreme wind and snow conditions Mount Washington is so well
known for, all while the warmth and safety of the SnowCoach are just steps away.

 * You can snowshoe or Nordic ski down if you choose! Free heel Nordic skis
   only. No alpine, AT or snowboard equipment permitted. We do not allow skiers
   or snowshoers to ascend the road above the top of the tour. Please note that
   Nordic skiing or snowshoeing down the Auto Road is NOT offered on the last
   tour of the day.

 * If you have a group larger than eight, please be aware that you will be
   riding in two or more separate SnowCoaches. If you book everyone for the same
   departure time, you will all depart the base together, be together at the top
   of the tour, and return to base together.

 * If there is space available, we will sell remaining seats for SnowCoach trips
   on a first-come basis starting at 8:30am, weather permitting. If a tour “Sold
   Out,” there will not be walk-in ticket sales.

   tours may be delayed or cancelled. Should that happen we will reach out to
   you to make arrangements to reschedule or refund your booking. Check out our

been on in my life. The staff was super nice and friendly and very helpful. The
tour guide was amazing. He taught us a lot of history about our tour on and off
the mountain. Inside the gift shop was big and so many selections. The bathrooms
were very clean and organized 👌👏

Really enjoyed the drive up to the treeline. Enjoyed the driver's commentary
about the Auto Road's history. Warm and toasty in the van. Was -1 up there and
wind was howling and it was awesome! Well-organized, on time. All good!

I had an incredible time.


This is my 4th time up Mt Washington but my first time during the Winter in the
snow. Absolutely epic. Our tour guide, Ron, was super knowledgeable, friendly
and accommodating. Enjoyed hearing his knowledge and stories. If you're just
thinking about this .... do it. It's worth it for sure.
