There have been some exciting changes at the Wrenthorpe Centre over the summer.

Our Outdoor classroom is finally ready to be used, and we are VERY excited!!!

Our raised beds have been created ready to get planting.

Our MUGA is also finished!  Bring on the fun.

During August Wakefield Cathedral is hosted an exhibition called 'Gaia'. It was
a huge model of the Earth,
as it looks from space.   Our students were asked to create art work to display
alongside it about 'our world and environment'.

.................................................................................................................................................

Gaia by Luke Jerram. A scale model of the Earth, 7 metres in diameter. Made
using NASA photographs taken from space to give people the opportunity to
experience what it would be like seeing the Earth from space.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................
Our Head Teacher, Mrs Mumby, was lucky enough to visit the Cathedral and see the
exhibit for herself.

She is ALWAYS proud of the effort our pupils put in to their work and the
standards they achieve, but was particularly proud that other people were also
able to enjoy their achievements.

Tick-off 50 fantastic things for you and your child to experience together

A new app provided by Wakefield Council with activities to enjoy in and around
the district.  50 Things To Do Before You’re Five gives you 50 activities that
parents and carers can support their children to try out and repeat. Each of the
50 Things have been carefully developed by education experts and early years
practitioners following consultation with parents, and we’ve made sure  that
children with special education needs are included and that each of the 50
Things means something across our culturally diverse communities.

Take a look here to find out more and download the app.

MENTAL HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING

We recognise that mental health and emotional wellbeing are just as important in
our lives as our physical health.

All children will navigate ups and downs throughout their time in school, and
some may face significant life events.  Schools have an important role and
responsibility when nurturing a child's wellbeing.

Our aim is to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school
community.

We are pleased to be part of a scheme called Operation Encompass.  Operation
Encompass is a partnership between education and the police. If police are
called out to an incident of domestic abuse, and a child has been present, they
will contact the child's school before 9am the next day.  This then means the
school can offer support to the child if needed.
