The North Atlantic Right Whale is a critically endangered species. Less than 350
exist today. The two major causes of the population decline are death from
entanglement in fishing gear and collisions with vessels.

IS THE NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALE ENDANGERED?

North Atlantic Right Whales have been listed as endangered under the Endangered
Species Act since 1970.


WHY IS AMELIA ISLAND AN IMPORTANT LOCATION FOR NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALES?

Amelia Island is central to the areas where the North Atlantic Right Whale
travels to birth and nurture their calves every year, from November-April.


DO NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALES NEED MY HELP?

Yes. Entanglement in fishing gear and vessel strikes are the main causes of
death for the NARW. You can be a voice to help protect these whales.
