Its strident brand of American-style evangelism has brought court cases,
controversy and thousands of worshippers who have donated millions of pounds to
their spiritual cause.

However, the Glasgow-based Destiny Church, whose founder claims to have met
people who have been raised from the dead, has been wounded by a damaging
schism. One of its leading figures, Peter Anderson, has turned his back to start
his own movement.

The sect was founded in 1990 by Andrew Owen, a Welsh preacher, and now has
churches around the world as well as an “international Christian leadership
academy”.

It made headlines last year when Owen suggested that God was behind the
