This is commonly accessed through default rules enabled in SpamAssassin or directly through proprietary scripts and applications. Starting March 1, 2024, Validity will allow up to 10,000 requests to anonymous users over a 30-day period. After 10,000 requests, you must create a MyValidity account to continue using this free service. Upon the creation of a MyValidity account, you will receive continued access to queries. To avoid excessive queries, Validity recommends avoiding public DNS resolvers. Instead, run a local caching, non-forwarding DNS server as the system resolver on your mail server. How is my request volume counted? Validity maintains a rolling 30-day count of your requests. If you make 1,000 requests on April 15, for example, those 1,000 requests roll off on May 15—not on May 1. Why do I have to give you my IP address? When you create your MyValidity account, identifying your accessing IP address(es) allows us to associate your account to your requests and continue to serve you response data. I query from multiple IPs. Can I sign them all up? Yes. When you create your MyValidity account, you can enter a range of IP addresses to keep them all within a single account. How do I update the information in my account? Go to my.validity.com and select Log In in the upper right corner. Once logged in, open the dropdown menu under your username in the upper right corner to access your account info. This allows you to delete or edit IP addresses and personal information. I get a 127.255.255.255 response on all my queries to Validity reputation data. What does this mean? 127.255.255.255 | Excessive Number of Queries This query response code indicates that you are querying Validity reputation data via a DNS resolver / IP address that is unregistered and making an excessive number of queries. Consequently, the query is blocked, and it will return no reputation data. To avoid excessive queries, Validity recommends avoiding public DNS resolvers. Instead, run a local caching, non-forwarding DNS server as the system resolver on your mail server. Why are excessive query numbers an issue? Access to Validity reputation data is free for non-commercial use. We limit the number of queries made to the free public mirrors to secure high service levels for all its intended users. What do I do if I repeatedly receive this code? You need to ensure that it is not being used to reject mail or for any other blocking or filtering of any internet traffic by any application. If your needs (and query volumes) are non-commercial in nature, you can register your *querying IPs at MyValidity to obtain higher query volume allowances. If your needs (and query volumes) are commercial in nature, we recommend contacting our Data Services team to discuss alternative action. *Querying IPs are the IPs from the party performing the DNS query, this could be your Maibox Provider's IPs and not your sender IP. Please verify this before registering the sender IP as your Mailbox Provider may still block your sends. Did this information resolve your issue?
