EVERY NFL TEAM’S UNDER-THE-RADAR ROOKIE: JONATHON BROOKS, ADONAI MITCHELL POISED
TO CONTRIBUTE IN 2024

Which under-the-radar NFL rookies will make headlines in 2024? PFN identifies
each team's Day 2 or 3 draft pick you should be watching this summer.

Almost every NFL team expects its first-round pick to contribute in 2024. But
clubs that coax value from mid-round selections will get icing on the rookie
cake.

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams boasted more Day 2 and 3 success stories than
any team. Fifth-round WR Puka Nacua finished second in Offensive Rookie of the
Year voting after putting up a record-breaking 106-1,486-6 line, while
third-round defenders Kobie Turner and Byron Young combined for 17 sacks.

Which team will find 2024’s version of Nacua, Young, or Turner? Here’s which
under-the-radar rookie you should be watching on every NFL roster.

WHICH DAY 2 AND 3 NFL ROOKIES WILL SHINE IN 2024?

ARIZONA CARDINALS | TE TIP REIMAN

The Cardinals drafted eight players before the end of Round 4, giving GM Monti
Ossenfort plenty of bites at the apple.

Third-round offensive lineman Isaiah Adams already looks like a candidate to
start at left guard. Fourth-round defensive back Dadrion Taylor-Demerson — a
favorite of PFN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings — could see time in an Arizona
secondary that needs playmakers.

However, we’re going with third-round TE Tip Reiman, who’s already earned rave
reviews at Cardinals training camp and will give OC Drew Petzing additional
personnel flexibility. Reiman might be a pass-blocking specialist in Year 1, but
that skill set will create more opportunities for WR Marvin Harison Jr. and
fellow TE Trey McBride.

ATLANTA FALCONS | EDGE BRALEN TRICE

The Falcons have been searching for pass-rush help since John Abraham departed
after the 2012 season. Atlanta lost free agents Calais Campbell and Bud Dupree
this offseason, leaving new DC Ryan Nielsen with Arnold Ebiketie and Lorenzo
Carter on the edge. Third-round picks like Bralen Trice face uphill climbs, but
it’s not as if the Washington product faces stiff competition.

BALTIMORE RAVENS | OT ROGER ROSENGARTEN

Ronnie Stanley will be the Ravens’ left tackle, while Tyler Linderbaum will
start at center. Baltimore’s other three offensive line jobs are all up for
grabs after the club lost guards John Simpson and Kevin Zeitler and right tackle
Morgan Moses over the offseason.

Second-round rookie Roger Rosengarten is the favorite to start at RT but might
have to beat out internal Ravens options like Patrick Mekari and Daniel Faalele.

BUFFALO BILLS | WR KEON COLEMAN

Few NFL teams needed wide receiver help as severely as the Bills this offseason.
After trading Stefon Diggs and letting Gabe Davis walk in free agency, Josh
Allen’s top WRs were Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, and Mack Hollins heading into
the draft.

With little competition in front of him, Keon Coleman could be in for a
significant role as early as his rookie campaign. The Florida State product
struggles to separate and ran just a 4.61-second 40-yard dash, but Coleman plays
faster than his timed speed and is a legitimate contested-catch maven.

CAROLINA PANTHERS | RB JONATHON BROOKS

Although Jonathon Brooks is on the non-football injury (NFI) list as he recovers
from a torn ACL, the second-round RB should be able to contribute by the second
half of the 2024 campaign — if not earlier.

He’s expected to be ready for the start of the regular season and shouldn’t have
any trouble overtaking Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders to become Carolina’s RB1.
Brooks, who can be activated at any time, averaged 6.1 yards per carry and
scored 11 total touchdowns for Texas in 2023.

CHICAGO BEARS | P TORY TAYLOR

The Bears made only five selections in the 2024 NFL Draft, and two — Caleb
Williams and Rome Odunze — were first-rounders. Fifth-round choice Austin Booker
could see snaps on a shallow Chicago EDGE depth chart, but punter Tory Taylor
will probably make the most significant impact of any Bears rookie next year.

Puntalytics ranked Taylor as their No. 1 punter heading into the draft,
comparing him favorably to Ravens punter Jordan Stout.

CINCINNATI BENGALS | DT KRIS JENKINS

The Bengals need improved interior defensive line play after finishing 26th in
run-stop win rate and tying for 32nd in FTN’s “stuffed” rate (the percentage of
runs where the opposing RB is tackled behind the line of scrimmage) last season.

Free agent signing Sheldon Rankins replaces free agent loss DJ Reader, while
Cincinnati also double-dipped in the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Michigan’s Kris
Jenkins Jr. in Round 2 and Texas A&M’s McKinnley Jackson in Round 3.

Both rookie DTs could contribute behind Rankins and B.J. Hill next season, but
Jenkins will get the priority and could play 500+ snaps in his debut campaign.

CLEVELAND BROWNS | DT MIKE HALL JR.

Cleveland didn’t have a first- or fourth-round pick in 2024, and most of their
draft choices will be strict backups in their rookie campaigns.

Defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. will begin the season as a reserve to Dalvin
Tomlinson, Shelby Harris, and Quinton Jefferson, but the Ohio State product
should see action by midyear, at worst. Hall was among college football’s best
at producing quick pressures, getting to opposing quarterbacks within an average
of three seconds.

DALLAS COWBOYS | EDGE MARSHAWN KNEELAND

Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams tore his ACL over the weekend, ending his
season and depriving Dallas of what little EDGE depth it had behind Micah
Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

As Pro Football Network’s Tony Catalina suggests, Jerry Jones might consider
adding a free agent pass rusher like Yannick Ngakoue or Carl Lawson. Meanwhile,
second-rounder Marshawn Kneeland has no choice but to step up in Williams’
absence. He might have to sharpen his pass-rushing technique after playing in
the MAC, but Kneeland could handle run-down snaps early in his career.

DENVER BRONCOS | RB AUDRIC ESTIMÉ

“When the draft started, every once in a while there’s a player you’d say, ‘When
this thing’s all over with, I’d love to have this player,’” Broncos head coach
Sean Payton said last week. “And fortunately, we were able to get (Audric
Estimé).”

Estimé started training camp on time after undergoing an offseason knee scope.
Javonte Williams is Denver’s 1A running back, but Estimé only has to beat out
Samaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin for playing time. Broncos offensive tackle
Mike McGlinchey said Tuesday that Estimé has “the biggest arms for a running
back” he’s ever seen in six NFL seasons.

DETROIT LIONS | CB ENNIS RAKESTRAW JR.

The Lions have a veteran-laden roster and only made six picks in 2024.

While most of Detroit’s Day 2 and 3 choices will probably be developmental
players next season, second-round CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. could contribute.
Hybrid defensive back Brian Branch handled the slot for the Lions last year but
could see more time as a true safety in 2024. Rakestraw might compete for inside
snaps in that scenario.

GREEN BAY PACKERS | S JAVON BULLARD

Poised to lose three safeties who played 600+ snaps each in 2023, the Packers
had to address their defensive backfield this offseason — and they didn’t
disappoint.

Green Bay struck early in free agency, signing former Giants defensive back
Xavier McKinney to a four-year deal worth $67 million. Then, the Packers took a
volume approach in this year’s draft, adding Georgia’s Javon Bullard in Round 2
before double-dipping with Oregon’s Evan Williams and Oregon State’s Kitan
Oladapo in Round 4. Bullard should be the favorite to start alongside McKinney,
but Green Bay has given itself options.

HOUSTON TEXANS | CB KAMARI LASSITER

The Texans’ CB2 battle might already be over. While Houston signed former
first-round picks Jeff Okudah and C.J. Henderson to compete opposite Derek
Stingley Jr., rookie second-rounder Kamari Lassiter has earned praise at every
turn.

Six-year NFL vet Noah Brown said Lassiter — appropriately nicknamed “Locksmith”
— is the best rookie defensive back he’s ever practiced against. The Texans
listed Lassiter as their CB2 on an unofficial depth chart released this week.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS | WR ADONAI MITCHELL

Viewed as a potential first-round prospect entering the draft, it’s unclear
whether Adonai Mitchell’s lack of production or off-field concerns led to his
drop to the middle of Round 2. Colts general manager Chris Ballard loves
athletes like Mitchell and passionately defended the Texas WR in a post-draft
rant.

A big-play threat who caught 11 touchdowns in 2023, Mitchell is the true X
receiver the Colts were looking for. He can take the top off opposing defenses
while catching deep shots from second-year QB Anthony Richardson, allowing
Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs to win in the short and intermediate areas of
the field.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS | K CAM LITTLE

Apologies for the cop-out, Jaguars fans. Most of Jacksonville’s Day 2 picks —
like DT Maason Smith and CB Jarrian Jones — look like developmental players who
probably won’t see real snaps without an injury in front of them.

But sixth-round pick Cam Little has already won the Jaguars’ kicking
competition. Jacksonville cut fellow kicker Riley Patterson, clearing the deck
for Little in 2024.

“We love Cam [Little]. When I worked him out, we loved him,” Jags special teams
coordinator Heath Farwell said in June. “The dinner I had with him was
fantastic. I just sensed that he was very competitive. I really liked what he
was doing.”

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS | OT KINGSLEY SUAMATAIA

The Chiefs are staging a true training camp battle at left tackle to determine
who gets to protect Patrick Mahomes’ blindside in 2024.

Second-round rookie Kingsley Suamataia may already have an early advantage. The
BYU alum took Kansas City’s first left-tackle reps when the club opened team
periods at training camp last week, and 2023 third-round pick Wanya Morris
worked with the Chiefs’ second-team offensive line but has since had some
first-team action.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS | RB DYLAN LAUBE

The Raiders expect Zamir White to take over their backfield following Josh
Jacobs’ offseason departure, but sixth-round rookie Dylan Laube has made an
impression this summer.

“The game comes natural to him,” Raiders OC Luke Getsy said this week. “He’s got
a great feel for it, so decisions he has to make, they come to him naturally. As
far as responsibility-wise, he doesn’t have the errors, and so that’s really
cool to see from such a young guy.”

Laube was a pass-catching specialist at New Hampshire and could emerge in that
role for Las Vegas. He’s already earned first-team reps at training camp
practices.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS | WR LADD MCCONKEY

The Chargers were desperate to buoy their WR room in the NFL Draft after trading
Keenan Allen and releasing Mike Wiliams over the offseason. The Bolts went with
offensive tackle Joe Alt in Round 1 instead of selecting a pass catcher like
Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze with the No. 5 pick but circled back around to find
a receiver at the top of the second round.

L.A. first made a smart trade, moving down 27 spots on Day 3 while exchanging
pick No. 37 for 34. Jim Harbaugh and Co. then grabbed Georgia’s Ladd McConkey,
who should start immediately given the Chargers’ woeful WR depth chart. He
offers inside/outside versatility and a proven ability to create separation,
which should earn him targets from Justin Herbert.

LOS ANGELES RAMS | DT BRADEN FISKE

Aaron Donald is gone, so the Rams are searching for young defenders to step up
around DT Kobie Turner, who finished third in DROY voting last season.

Braden Fiske should be able to get into Los Angeles’ starting lineup by Week 1
after posting 21 sacks over his final two collegiate seasons. Rams head coach
Sean McVay is already excited about the havoc that Fiske and Florida State
teammate Jared Verse — L.A.’s first-round pick — can create in 2024.

MIAMI DOLPHINS | EDGE MOHAMED KAMARA

The Dolphins have an EDGE problem.

Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Cameron Goode are on the physically unable
to perform (PUP) list as they recover from season-ending injuries. Shaquil
Barrett, an offseason addition from the Buccaneers, announced his retirement
last week, forcing Miami to reunite with Emmanuel Ogbah.

Dolphins first-round pick Chop Robinson will get the first crack at starting
reps, but fifth-rounder Mohamed Kamara might also have to see action.

“To be honest, I’m very excited, but I also am very, very angry going the round
that I did,” Kamara told Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley after the draft.
“That’s just my personality. I knew I could’ve went higher, and I wanted to go
higher. But the lovely team of Miami picked me up, and I’m going to give them
that burning desire.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS | K WILL REICHARD

Will Reichard looks like the real deal. The Vikings rookie kicker nailed five of
five field goal attempts at Minnesota’s weekend practice and is poised to beat
John Parker Romo for the club’s kicker job. Reichard, the first of three kickers
selected in 2024, is the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader and a two-time
second-team All-American.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS | WR JA’LYNN POLK

PFN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings loved the fit between Ja’Lynn Polk and the New
England Patriots, calling the newfound duo a “dream pairing” while labeling Polk
a “catch savant.” Although he’s not the most dynamic athlete, Polk is a weapon
on contested catches and could become the Patriots’ next Jakobi Meyers.

With only Kendrick Bourne, K.J. Osborn, and DeMario Douglas standing between him
and starting snaps, Polk figures to make an impact in Year 1.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS | WR BUB MEANS

The Saints’ WR depth chart is relatively wide-open behind Chris Olave and Rashid
Shaheed. New Orleans recently activated fifth-rounder Bub Means from the NFI
list, and the ex-Pitt Panther has a promising athletic profile. After posting
17.6 yards per catch in his final collegiate campaign, Means has at least a
chance to beat A.T. Perry, Cedrick Wilson Jr., and others for the Saints’ WR3
job.

NEW YORK GIANTS | RB TYRONE TRACY JR.

The Giants have to figure out the post-Saquon Barkley life in 2024 after
watching the former No. 2 pick sign with the division-rival Eagles in March.
Brian Daboll’s favorite Devin Singletary will be New York’s lead back after
inking a three-year deal in free agency, but Big Blue has plenty of backfield
touches up for grabs.

Fifth-round choice Tyrone Tracy Jr. converted from WR to RB late in his college
career. The transition took, as Tracy averaged 6.3 yards per carry for Purdue in
2023. He’ll need to beat out fellow RB Eric Gray for snaps, but Tracy could
become the Giants’ top backup — and push Singletary for time — sooner rather
than later.

NEW YORK JETS | RB BRAELON ALLEN

Although Breece Hall should dominate touches out of the Jets’ backfield, someone
has to take on the 300+ snaps that Dalvin Cook and Michael Carter played for New
York in 2023.

Braelon Allen is competing with fifth-round rookie Isaiah Davis and holdover
Israel Abanikanda for action behind Hall, but we’re betting on the Wisconsin
product seeing the most time of Gang Green’s reserve options.

“He’s heavy. Very smart, fluid, good out of the backfield, really good in pass
protection already for a rookie,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said last week.
“Braelon’s really smooth out of the backfield with his hands. So, he’s got a
chance, he’s just gotta keep working.”

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES | RB WILL SHIPLEY

Second-round Eagles CB Cooper DeJean might’ve been the easy selection here had
he not suffered a hamstring injury that will cost him three weeks of practice.

Fourth-round RB Will Shipley received first-team training camps this week when
Barkley sat out a session. He made the most of his opportunity with a
highlight-reel catch on Sunday. Veteran Kenneth Gainwell is a useful player, but
Shipley could be a higher-upside backup in Philadelphia.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS | LB PAYTON WILSON

Full disclosure: We originally listed third-round Steelers WR Roman Wilson here,
but the Michigan product went down with an injury at Tuesday’s practice.

While we keep our fingers crossed for Wilson, we’ll highlight LB Payton Wilson,
whom Pittsburgh selected 14 picks after Roman Wilson (no relation). Patrick
Queen and Elandon Roberts have worked as the Steelers’ first-team linebackers,
but Wilson has seen time as a nickel and dime LB. The NC State alum could
overtake Roberts as a starter by midseason.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS | G DOMINICK PUNI

Spencer Burford, who made 13 right guard starts for the 49ers last season, broke
his hand this week. He’s still considering surgery but is expected to miss at
least three weeks. Veteran backup Jon Feliciano is also missing practice while
dealing with a knee injury.

Dominick Puni, the 86th overall pick in April, might now have the upper hand to
start at right guard. He played tackle at Kansas but was fully expected to
transition inside in the pros. Puni’s mobility will play in Kyle Shanahan’s
system, and San Francisco’s myriad injuries might force him to the lineup.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS | G CHRISTIAN HAYNES

Seattle’s interior offensive line will look quite a bit different in 2024.

Damien Lewis, Phil Haynes, and Evan Brown are out. Free agents Laken Tomlinson
and Nick Harris, holdovers Anthony Bradford and Olu Oluwatimi, and third-round
rookie Christian Haynes are in.

MORE: Pro Football Network’s Top 100 NFL Players of 2024

Haynes may not start from Day 1 but likely has the most upside among the
Seahawks’ guard choices. Either way, he could represent a steal for Seattle.
Although the UConn product ranked 52nd on PFN’s Industry Consensus Board, the
Seahawks got him with pick No. 81.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS | WR JALEN MCMILLAN

Although Ja’Lynn Polk was drafted 55 spots earlier, Jalen McMillan often
overshadowed his Washington teammate when both were healthy. A knee injury
sidelined McMillan for part of the 2023 campaign, but he posted a 79-1,098-9
line for the Huskies in 2022.

While he’ll need to add strength, McMillan might be able to start for the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers over Trey Palmer as soon as the upcoming season. He makes total
sense as a vertical slot option between Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

TENNESSEE TITANS | DT T’VONDRE SWEAT

Off-field issues affected T’Vondre Sweat’s draft stock, but the Titans still
selected the 6’4″, 365-pounder with the 38th overall pick. While he was still
working himself into football shape at the beginning of Tennesee’s training
camp, Sweat has started to see more reps in team drills.

Sweat and incumbent Titans All-Pro DT Jeffery Simmons could cause nightmares for
AFC South offensive linemen in 2024.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS | OT BRANDON COLEMAN

Our last pick might be our easiest. While the free agent market still has plenty
of left tackle options who could help protect Jayden Daniels’ blindside, the
Commanders appear to be rolling with third-round rookie Brandon Coleman at left
tackle.

The TCU product has seen first-team reps at both tackle spots throughout the
offseason but was lined up as Washington’s starting LT this week. The Commanders
might yet consider an outside addition like Donovan Smith or old friend Charles
Leno Jr. For now, though, Coleman bears the brunt of keeping Washington’s prized
asset clean in the pocket.
