overwhelming and sometimes frightening, and she is dedicated to making speech
therapy effective, supportive, and fun.

“I FIRST MET LORI DURING MY FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. LORI HELPED ME FEEL
MORE COMFORTABLE IN APPLYING FOR JOBS AND HAVING CONVERSATIONS. I AM REALLY
GRATEFUL FOR WHAT SHE TAUGHT ME.”

— Harry, College Student

“I ALWAYS TRUSTED AND APPRECIATED ALL OF MRS. PRICE’S HARD WORK, PATIENCE, AND
CLEAR INSTRUCTION. SHE IS A MAJOR REASON WHY I AM DOING WELL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND
COMMUNICATING CLEARLY WITH THE WORLD AROUND ME.”

— Owen, High School Student

I was in middle school when I first started working with Mrs. Price. At first, I
was unsure of it because I had past experiences in the classroom with speech
where I was not engaged and was not learning. But she did something different
from the other teachers — she did the classes in the real world. We went to many
places like Metropolitan Market where I asked about certain products or kitchen
appliances, we went to Bellevue Square Mall and went to the Tesla store and
asked about the cars and the prices and we would also go to other stores and ask
questions to the employees, we would also go to Gilman village where we would go
to the Issaquah Coffee company and ask about the different food products they
had, all these places we went were meant to help my communication and speech
skills.

At the start of each session, she would ask me what my goals were for
communication and speech that session. Then at the end of each session, she
would ask if I think I met my goals that day and she would provide feedback. I
felt that Mrs. Price greatly improved my communication skills, and she was
patient and understanding. Last summer I worked as a gate guard at my local
pool, which required clear communication. Even with my mask on, I was able to
speak clearly and always aimed to make direct eye contact with them, which was
one of the skills Mrs. Price had taught me.
