DESCRIPTION

Job summary
Ring is seeking a self-directed System Development Engineer to develop and
operate our AWS cloud data processing systems. As a member of our team, you will
build and operate high-volume data services at scale; ingesting petabytes of
data per week to enable critical business operations at Ring.

Responsibilities:

* Lead projects and work with service teams to optimize data infrastructure and
pipelines.
* Build CI/CD and automation solutions using AWS tools and services.
* Work with engineering and business stakeholders to understand requirements.
* Shape the growth of resources and capabilities.
* Evaluate and implement efficient distributed storage and query techniques.
* Collaborate with internal teams to integrate services and APIs.
* Maintain secure infrastructure.
* Experience developing CI/CD frameworks that can scale across multiple
services, programming languages, and deployment frameworks.
* Develop scripts and automation using Python, Amazon CDK, or similar scripting
languages.

About the team
The Ring Data Management team owns products and services for Ring's growing
analytics and operational needs. The portfolio of services managed by the team
allow centralized data collection, aggregation and the building of standardized
data models for analytics use cases.
Internal job description
Ring is seeking a self-directed Senior System Development Engineer to support
our cloud-based processing systems. As a senior member of our team, you will
assess and recommend architecture frameworks, design and implement
high-performance solutions, support data ingestion and publication API’s, and
contribute to the technical vision of our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

* Lead projects and work with other SDEs to optimize data infrastructure across
services and technologies.
* Work with engineering and business stakeholders to understand requirements.
* Shape the growth of resources and capabilities.
* Evaluate and implement efficient distributed storage and query techniques.
* Collaborate with internal teams to integrate services and APIs.
* Maintain secure infrastructure.
* Continue to train team on best practices.

-Experience with Python AWS automation – boto3, REST interface, Flask, CDK.

* Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
* Understanding of AWS services and cloud-based scaling patterns.
* Experience with Kubernetes/EKS.
* Experience with Splunk or other Log analytics tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering roles
working in high traffic, fault tolerant, and highly available environments.
* Experience with SQL.
* Experience with streaming platforms like Kafka or Kinesis.
* Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Splunk or similar technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, or Ansible
* Understanding of AWS services and cloud-based scaling patterns.

* Experience with data processing systems such as Flink, Apache Beam, and
Dataflow.
