MISSION LEXINGTON (FORMERLY LEXINGTON INTERFAITH COMMUNITY SERVICES) HAS BEEN MEETING THE NEEDS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY RESIDENTS IN CRISIS FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS. We were originally founded in 1978 by four churches as a way to serve individuals and families faced with limited emergency needs, Since then, our organization has grown exponentially. Mission Lexington is the hub of care for Lexington County, assisting families and individuals with life essentials, resources, and guidance. OUR IMPACT Mission Lexington (formerly Lexington Interfaith Community Services) has been meeting the needs of Lexington County residents in crisis. HOW WE SERVE Providing basic human needs, resources, and financial needs for our neighbors in Lexington County. GET INVOLVED In a world where social and economic needs are dramatically escalating, we are called upon more than ever to uphold each other as neighbors. SHOP MISSION LEXINGTON The Mission Store provides clothing for our neighbors free of charge and is also a full-service Thrift Shop open to the public. AMAZINGLY, OUR DOORS REMAINED OPEN TO SERVE CLIENTS THROUGHOUT 2020 AND WE WERE ABLE TO MEET MORE THAN 24,000 NEEDS. BABIES SERVED AGES 0 MONTHS – 5 YEARS DOLLARS WORTH OF ITEMS GIVEN FOR FREE FROM OUR THRIFT SHOP DOLLARS GIVEN IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. PEOPLE RECEIVED FOOD FROM OUR FOOD PANTRY. KAREN’S IMPACT STORY … Have you ever been in a position of not knowing if you will be able to pay your next month’s rent, waking up each morning anxiously concerned that the eviction notice will be served that day? This is how our story started with Karen. Karen came to Mission Lexington desperately seeking rental assistance, and after dedicating many years to working for a company in the area, she, unfortunately, had suddenly been terminated from her position. As a single mom, Karen struggled with the challenge of raising Joshua, her four-year-old son, with autism.Karen exhausted her Family Medical Leave (FMLA) while seeking childcare options for Joshua, with no luck. She spent years working to build her savings, but without income, she needed to use these funds to make ends meet. She was now facing the daunting question of how to pay her rent, as well as other monthly bills. Overwhelmed with the situation, she came to Mission Lexington seeking financial assistance, but she received so much more.
