GS PAY SCALE 2021

The General Schedule (GFS) is the most common pay scale for most federal
employees, including those in professional, clerical, technical and
administrative positions. The schedule displays the employee’s pay status on a
monthly basis. The system includes 15 grades, from GS-5, the lowest pay level,
to GS 15, the highest pay level.

In addition to the wages and salaries listed above, there are also additional
factors considered when computing an employee’s pay. One such factor is a
general officiant’s fee that is assessed.

2021 General Schedule Basic Pay

When the General Schedule displays an error, it must be corrected by contacting
the pay grade level and requesting that the error be corrected. An employee may
request an increase in a General Schedule grade if another agency approves an
increase and that the agency pays the employee an additional fee for the
service.

If there are multiple errors in one General Schedule, employees may file a
complaint with their pay grade level, requesting that the error be corrected,
without first going through the direct process of going through the OPM (Office
of Personnel Management). Although the OPM may direct you to contact another
agency for assistance in correcting your General Schedule, they will not charge
for this service.

US Government Employees Pay Comparison

General Schedule error correction involves contacting the pay grade level to
request an administrative hearing before an OPM official. The employee must be
prepared to provide substantiating evidence that the error has been made;
however, if other agency employees tell the pay grade level that they believe
the error was made, it is not necessarily true.

An administrative hearing will determine whether your claim is valid. After the
hearing, an official review of your General Schedule will be completed, and you
will be notified of your correct grade level and the appropriate payment for
that level.
