During this same period, Patrick gained confidence in himself and learned to
manage a bad stutter to the point he was a regular in the local little theater
group and even involved in Summer Stock Theater in 1967. He also developed into
an accomplished public speaker.



Patrick also took part in the July 9 thru 11 CBS’ coverage of the G7 Economic
Summit in 1990 and was part of interviewing world leaders. He also covered the
February 7, 1991, attempted bombing of the seat of government in the United
Kingdom: # 10 Downing Street. Patrick was the only US correspondent present
during the blizzard of the century.



Over 1600 ninety-second commentaries provided glimpses of what was ahead. The
last 100 commentaries were aired in 1993 on KGBS, a then CNN affiliate in
Dallas. Patrick was the political analyst for CNN radio’s reporting for election
night 1992.
Patrick served in senior capacities at the VP to CEO levels throughout the next
20 years and traveled to every continent except Antarctica. A total of 36
countries and over 120 cities. He consulted with business and government leaders
and articulated his message, even acting as a spokesperson on what was ahead
along the pathways to the future.
In April of 2014, Patrick’s novel 1 of a trilogy was released under the title,
Blood Profit$ - the Lithium Conspiracy was released. Novels 2 and 3 are
completed but not yet released. The novels, political thrillers, chronicle the
efforts of 3 young heroes to take down a fictitious cell of 3 corrupt US
Senators who conspire with the mafia to default the US government and monopolize
the world’s supply of lithium.
Patrick and alpaca breeder friend Steve Putney, a fellow lifelong broadcaster,
got together and dreamed up a new hour-long radio/podcast show that would
address issues from the middle perspective, not be partisan leaning and
interview perspectives from all sides. In real life, Steve was much more
conservative, a huge supporter of Trump, and leaned to the far right at times.
Patrick was a purely pragmatic and could lean both directions depending on the
issues. He detested ‘snark’ , disliked Trumps’ crassness, and had to continue to
keep himself in check. Steve and Jim were and are both registered Independents,
The show would not allow ‘snark’ or hate from guests and had to be fun, lite,
and include friendly bantering between the two hosts and even the guests, kind
of an issue variety show on radio. During the run of the show, there was only
one guest that was asked to leave, Steve and Jim could always see each other via
Skype, taping from their home studios, they exchanged finger symbols about this
guest and the taping stopped immediately, Fortunately, that grumpy and nasty
guest refused to use Skype and could not see the middle fingers rise in perfect
unison, The guest was well known and an ultra-right-wing hate partisan and a
total ass!
The show had to always end upbeat and provide a final laugh. The Hosts agreed
that they were imperfect, and they sure were. The 2 gents almost at the same
time started humming the 1972 hit song, ’Stuck in the Middle’, by the Stealer
Wheelers, which had a great message and it gave birth to The Men in the Middle.
They needed to avoid any copyright or trademark infringements which were not
easy, Little did they know that Michael Smerconish, a fellow broadcaster, was
using the same theme song, Michael and Jim never met each other, but their
political history was very similar, Patrick has always been a big fan of
Michael’s objectivity and honorable approach to broadcasting, Fortunately,
Michael didn’t mind, didn’t care or their show was a speck in the airways,
Jim and Steve, as mentioned earlier, saw themselves as bros, but in reality, the
two men never met in person, ever, They would fiercely debate off-air and showed
their own partisan feelings to each other and at times it got testy, but they
agreed to disagree and as pros, the show went on.
Now, Jim Patrick's Man in the Middle will discuss the pathways to the remainder
of this decade, as a guest commentator, to major worldwide news outlets, and
produce vignettes interviews and gather opinions and perspectives.
The Final Act:
Patrick says it this way: ‘

The audience has to digest the information to synthesize what they think.  I
will present from the middle always; sans partisanship.

It is my final sharing and giving back.

I remain perfectly imperfect, but will continue to try to be objective, kind,
and to deliver an opinion of what I see ahead along our shared pathways to the
future!’
