CAIR RELEASES COMMUNITY TOOLKIT ON PROMOTING GAZA CEASEFIRE RESOLUTIONS BY
STATE, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/11/24) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the nation, today
released its Community Toolkit on Promoting Ceasefire Now Resolutions at State
and Local Government. This toolkit developed by CAIR is designed to equip all
Americans with resolutions demanding a ceasefire that addresses Israel’s ongoing
genocide in Gaza with their local city, county, school board, and state
legislative representatives.

The toolkit is designed to facilitate meetings in which community members and
leaders can educate officials about the genocide in Gaza and advocate for
adopting declaratory statements and resolutions promoting a permanent ceasefire.

Covering everything from understanding the roles and functions of state and
local governments to offering practical tips for organizing meetings, attending
town hall sessions, and effectively utilizing factsheets to support resolutions,
this resource serves as a thorough guide for active civic engagement. 

In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Department Coordinator Shafiquil
Muhshna said: 

“This toolkit serves as a resource to amplify your voice in the pursuit of
justice and peace for all, including the Palestinian people facing genocide in
Gaza. The American Muslim community should continue to embrace civic engagement,
armed with the knowledge to enlighten local representatives about what
Palestinians in Gaza are suffering and how it is also impacting people here in
America. This toolkit is your compass for change and a ceasefire now. Let’s
unite, educate, and passionately push for resolutions that echo the urgent need
for a ceasefire and the pursuit of a just, lasting peace by ending the Israeli
occupation.”
