The skills needs of security operatives

The Security Skills Board has commissioned Perpetuity Research to undertake a
study of the skills needs of security operatives providing guarding services
within the security industry. The key focus is on understanding the training
needs of operatives beyond (i.e. in addition to) entry level SIA licence linked
training. We are seeking views on:





- The skills needed to be competent as a security operative i.e. the baseline
requirements, and the skills needed to progress from this position

- The suitability of existing training courses for security operatives

- Potential barriers to career development

- How a National Skills Academy for Private Security could support the
development of security operatives




The survey will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. We do not ask
your name or the company you work for. No identifying factors will be presented
in the research findings. All information collected will be used only for the
purposes of this piece of research. The findings will be used to inform the
support provided by a National Skills Academy for Private Security.
