Aven Harbor is a space of comfort and refuge where you may find higher ground, meaningful connectedness, and clarity. We are physician psychiatrists in Chicago with experience treating a broad range of mental health conditions. We utilize evidence-based medication strategies, psychotherapy, and integrative/holistic practices to provide a comprehensive treatment approach that takes the whole person into account. At the center of our practice is genuine compassion for you, as an individual, and deep respect for your journey towards psychiatric health and wellbeing. Aven ˈɑː.ven/ A vertical shaft leading upward from a cave passage, sometimes connecting with passages above ABOUT US Dr. Gordon completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Brown University and earned an MD from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed specialized training in psychiatry residency at Northwestern McGaw Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Gordon pursued additional studies in Nutritional Psychiatry, Women’s Mental Health and served as a Chief Resident. At Aven Harbor, Dr. Gordon oversees clinical affairs, programming, and creative strategy. Mikalei Y. Gordon, MD Dr. Matrick completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from The University of Mississippi. He completed an MD and MBA program at Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine and Smeal College of Business, respectively. He completed specialized training in psychiatry residency at Northwestern McGaw Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Matrick pursued additional studies in LGBTQ+ Psychiatry and served as a Chief Resident. At Aven Harbor, Dr. Matrick oversees business operations, finance, and strategic planning. Andrew J. Matrick, MD, MBA DIAGNOSIS AND MEDICATIONS PSYCHOTHERAPY “TALK THERAPY” NUTRITIONAL AND INTEGRATIVE PSYCHIATRY PROFESSIONAL/ LEADERSHIP COACHING HERE TO HELP YOU FIND A PATH FORWARD Our clinical approach is based on a model of mental wellness that expands beyond treating disease and disorder. We believe in utilizing holistic psychiatry strategies to tend to each patient’s mind, body, emotions, and spirit to achieve a general sense of balance and wellbeing. We utilize traditional medications and talk therapy, in addition to incorporating integrative practices like nutrition, exercise, and meditation/mindfulness to formulate a customized treatment plan. Our practice offers both telemedicine and in-person appointments at our well-appointed and discreet downtown office. WHAT IS A PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTATION? This visit is designed for the psychiatrist to meet you, ask questions about your history to develop an understanding of who you are and your unique needs, craft an initial diagnosis, and make a treatment plan which often includes recommendations for medication and or talk therapy. This visit is 90 minutes in length. Follow up visits are 15-45 mins in length to check in on how your treatment is progressing.
