H.E. Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj has been Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain
(CBB), previously the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA), since January 2005.

As Governor, Mr. Al Maraj carries ministerial ranking and is the chief executive
of the CBB, which is responsible for ensuring monetary and financial stability
in Bahrain. The CBB is also the single regulator of Bahrain’s financial services
industry.

Mr. Al Maraj has a wealth of experience in finance, engineering and management
and has served with the Government and the private sector.

His career highlights include senior positions with Government, having served as
Assistant Under-Secretary at the then Finance and National Economy Ministry and
Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Transportation.

Prior to his appointment as CBB Governor, Mr. Al Maraj was General Manager and
Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp),
which is based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Currently, Mr. Al Maraj is on the Boards of the Economic Development Board
(EDB), National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and member of the Board of Trustees
of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, UK.

He has previously served as Chairman of the Bahrain Telecommunications Company,
as a member of the Consultation Council of the Co-operation Council for the Arab
States of the Gulf and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of
Bahrain.

publications.
Alex is a founding member of the IMF’s special advisory council on fintech and
blockchain. He also currently sits on Advisory Board to Elections Canada, the
independent, non-partisan agency responsible for conducting federal elections
and referendums, and is a founding Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global
Futures Council on Blockchain. In 2016, he co-founded (with Don Tapscott) The
Blockchain Research Institute, a multi-million dollar think tank focused on
blockchain strategies, opportunities and use-cases. Alex and Don received the
2017 Thinkers50 Digital Thinking Award. This award “celebrates the thinker who
has done the most to convert the digital language of the 0 and 1 into useful
human insights”. Alex is a graduate of Amherst College (cum laude) and is a CFA
Charterholder. He lives in Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Khalid Hamad has held several senior posts at the Central Bank of Bahrain
(CBB).

His current responsibilities include supervision of all banking institutions,
including Islamic banks, licensed by the CBB, as well as inspection of all
financial institutions, comprising banks, insurance firms, investment companies,
and capital market players.

Mr. Hamad began his career in 1987 with the Bahrain Monetary Agency, the
predecessor of the CBB. From 1990 till 2003, he served as Acting Director,
Inspection and then as Director, Banking Supervision. In 2003, he joined Ernst &
Young in Bahrain, serving as Senior Consultant on Risk Management & Regulatory
Services. He rejoined the CBB in his current post in February 2006.

Mr. Hamad is Chairman of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM),
Chairman of the Waqf Fund for Research, Education and Training in Islamic
Finance. He has also served on a number of national and regional committees,
including the GCC Banking Supervision Committees, Arab Banking Supervision
Committee and Offshore Group of Banking Supervisors.

Mr. Hamad has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University
of Portland, USA and a Strategic Leadership and Executive Management Program
certificate from the University of Columbia, New York.

Mr Simon Martin CMG was appointed as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of
Bahrain in September 2015. Mr Martin joined the FCO in 1984 and served in
London, Rangoon, Budapest and Prague in a number of policy and commercial roles.
His most recent role was as Deputy Private Secretary to Their Royal Highnesses
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif is a highly regarded senior banker with over three
decades of international banking experience. He holds a Master of Business
Administration degree from University of Hull, UK. He was earlier with Arab
Banking Corporation, for over 20 years and last served as Director on its Board.

As President & Chief Executive, Mr. Yousif has led Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG)
since inception, developing the Group into one of the largest and most
diversified Islamic banking groups in the world operating a network of over 700
branches in 15 countries, with its Head Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He is
also the Chairman of Al Baraka Turk Participation Bank, Banque Al Baraka
D'Algerie, Al Baraka Bank Ltd. South Africa, Al Baraka Bank Lebanon, Jordan
Islamic Bank, Al Baraka Bank Egypt, Al Baraka Bank Syria, Al Baraka Bank Sudan,
Al Baraka Bank Pakistan Ltd., Vice Chairman of Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Bahrain
and a Board member of Al Baraka Bank Tunisia and Itqan Capital in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Adnan Yousif was the Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks, Lebanon for two
terms (2007-2013). Besides having received many international awards he is the
recipient of the Medal of Efficiency, a unique honor conferred by His Royal
Highness - King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain
during the year 2011. Mr. Yousif received the title of the CSR International
Ambassador (Kingdom of Bahrain) from the CSR Regional Network. including twice
the Islamic Banker of the Year award (2004 and 2009).

In addition, he was awarded by LARIBA American Finance House the 2012 “LARIBA
Award for Excellence in Achievement”, in recognition of his leadership role in
consolidating and operating the largest diversified Islamic Banking Group in the
world.

In recognition of Mr. Yousif’s outstanding contribution in the field of
contemporary Islamic Finance in terms of modernizing its fundamentals in
practice and theorization, the Al Jinan University of Lebanon granted him an
Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Administration. Furthermore, in
recognition of his efforts in evolving a unique business model that is
integrated with the noble goals of Islamic Banking, Mr. Yousif has been awarded
the Accolade of the Sudanese Presidency for Excellency in Social Responsibility
in December 2015.

In Dec. 2016 Mr. Adnan Yousif was decorated with the Title of "High Commissioner
to preach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030". He also won
the Gold Award for Sustainable Development in recognition of his major role in
the service and social responsibility programs both nationally and
internationally, as well as recognition for the leading role of Al Baraka Group
in the field of CSR activities at Oman International Conference on Social
Responsibility 2016. Mr. Yousif has been elected during 2017 as the Chairman of
Bahrain Association of Banks.

Xen Baynham-Herd is Head of Strategy & Lead Economist at Blockchain. Previous to
joining Blockchain Xen was a Director at UBS, managing a structural asset
portfolio and derivatives trading book. He was also a business lead and
specialist for balance sheet innovation related to block chain and distributed
ledger technology (DLT). Prior to this Xen worked in number of roles spanning
fixed income trading, financial product structuring, asset & liability
management, investment banking, balance sheet optimisation and strategy. Xen was
an early pioneer and champion of the digital currency project known as the
‘Utility Settlement Coin’ looking to set the standard for global inter-bank
settlements using DLT and has authored a number of related white papers and
discussion pieces.

Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
of Kuwait Finance House - Bahrain (KFHB), as well as the Chairman of the board
for the two largest real estate projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain Durrat Al
Bahrain and Diyar Al Muharraq. Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat is a regular speaker on
a variety of topics including business and finance and frequently participates
at local and international conferences. He also has dedicated part of his time
to participate in the Board of Directors of non-profit Bahraini organizations.
In 1997, Mr. Alkhayyat passed his Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) exams from
the State of California; he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in
1990 and 1991 with bachelor degrees in both majors of Business Administration
and Middle Eastern Studies.

Hassan Amin Jarrar is the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Islamic Bank, the
first Islamic banking institution in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Prior to his
appointment in July 2015, he served nine years with Standard Chartered Bank,
firstly as Country Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking for the UAE and
DIFC, and subsequently as Chief Executive Office for Standard Chartered in
Bahrain. Hassan has more than thirty years’ extensive experience in commercial
banking in the USA and in the Middle East, the past twenty years of which have
been in the Gulf region. Hassan’s diverse background includes Retail Banking,
SME, and Corporate and Institutional Banking. Other previous appointments
include Head of Corporate and SME Banking at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and VP
Corporate Banking Mashreqbank, Abu Dhabi. Before returning to the Middle East,
Hassan spent almost twenty years in the USA where he held senior management
roles at Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America in California. He gained his
BSc in Finance from the California State University, San Jose. Hassan serves on
the following boards in Bahrain:

 1.  1994
     
     The launch of what was to become the world’s largest and the most
     significant annual gathering of Islamic banking & finance industry leaders
     anywhere in the world. 120 pioneering delegates attend the 1st WIBC.

 2.  2000
     
     Fast track to 2000 and the Islamic banking and finance industry enters the
     new millennium growing rapidly as the 7th Annual WIBC highlights a new wave
     of growth in the international Islamic banking and finance industry.

 3.  2001
     
     The events of 9/11 cast an unwanted spotlight on the international
     industry, however leaders of major institutions used the WIBC platform to
     put the record straight and get key messages across to one of the largest
     ever contingents of international media at the conference.

 4.  2003
     
     The 10th Anniversary of WIBC was celebrated in style. The event which was
     officially inaugurated by Abdulla Hassan Saif, Bahrain's Minister of
     Finance & National Economy and moderated by Peter Hobday, saw the
     announcement of the launch of a new $1.5 billion International Islamic
     bank.

 5.  2004
     
     The inaugural edition of the World Islamic Banking Competitiveness Report –
     an industry first initiative – was launched at WIBC 2004. The WIBC
     Competitiveness Report over the last 9 years has evolved into an
     indispensable reference resource for the key decision-makers in the global
     Islamic banking & finance industry. The pre-conference workshops, which are
     now a regular feature at WIBC, was also introduced in 2004. Tim Sebastian
     of BBC HardTalk was the moderator for WIBC 2004.

 6.  2005
     
     WIBC 2005 saw the introduction of a high-powered Leaders & Winning
     Strategies session featuring Abdul-Aziz Al-Ghurair & Abdullah Sulaiman Al
     Rajhi. Prof. Robert S. Kaplan was the Keynote Speaker at WIBC 2005.

 7.  2006
     
     Two World Renowned Gurus: Tom Peters & Gary Hamel wowed the WIBC Audience
     in 2006 and the delegate numbers broke through the 1,000 mark for the first
     time!

 8.  2007
     
     WIBC 2007 saw the launch of the World Comes to WIBC Initiative and the
     country-focus sessions, which explored the increasing interest and
     opportunities for Islamic finance in new jurisdictions. For the first time,
     the UK Trade and Investment hosted the UK Pavilion which featured a high
     powered delegation of decision-makers representing major banks &
     institutions in the UK attending the World Islamic Banking Conference. The
     UK Pavilion is now a regular feature of WIBC.

 9.  2008
     
     WIBC celebrated its 15 years of market leadership in 2008. The World Comes
     to WIBC initiative further expanded to feature a high powered delegation
     from Singapore which was led by H.E Heng Swee Keat, Governor of the
     Monetary Authority of Singapore.

 10. 2009
     
     The Global Economic Crisis continues to cast a shadow across the
     conventional banking industry. The global market leaders gathered in full
     force at WIBC 2009 to strengthen the resilience and shape the future of the
     global Islamic finance industry. Prof. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Author of the
     New York Times Best Seller – The Black Swan, was the keynote speaker.

 11. 2010
     
     WIBC 2010 featured for the first time an official representation from
     Luxembourg to showcase Islamic finance. Also for the ­first time, a
     Malaysia focus representing the county’s leading Islamic financial players.
     Todd Benjamin, Former Financial Editor of CNN was the moderator and Dr.
     Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman, Templeton Emerging Markets Group was the
     Guru Speaker.

 12. 2011
     
     For the first time ever, an official representation from France led by
     Invest in France Agency attended WIBC in 2011 and hosted a roundtable on
     the opportunities for Islamic finance in France. Also for the first time,
     WIBC 2011 featured Kishore Mahbubani, Dean and Professor in the Practice of
     Public Policy Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of
     Singapore as the Guru Speaker.

 13. 2012
     
     WIBC 2012 featured for the first time, a US Country Interface led by the US
     Chamber of Commerce. This was the first time that the US was ever
     showcasing their interest in Islamic finance and inviting Islamic finance
     institutions to the US. WIBC 2012 also featured a special keynote address
     by H.E. Jaloul Ayed, Former Minister of Finance, The Republic of Tunisia
     who discussed the Potential for Islamic Finance in Maghreb Countries in the
     aftermath of the Arab spring.

 14. 2013
     
     The 20th Anniversary Special Edition of WIBC was a true celebration as the
     world’s largest gathering of Islamic finance leaders took stock of the
     past, present and future of the industry. It was graced by the presence of
     Islamic finance pioneer and industry titan Sheikh Saleh Kamel, Founder and
     Chairman of Dallah al Baraka Group (DBG), who shared his invaluable
     insights into the Development of the Islamic Finance Industry: Perspectives
     on the Past, Present and Future. The Keynote address was by Sir Howard
     Davies, Former Chairman, Financial Services Authority; and Former Deputy
     Governor, Bank of England, who spoke on the Future of Banking Regulation &
     Implications for Islamic Finance Institutions.

 15. 2014
     
     Celebrating 21 Years of Growth, Excellence and Innovation in the Global
     Islamic Finance Industry, keynote speakers featured Nurlan Kussainov,
     Deputy Governor, National Bank of Kazakhstan; and Jaseem Ahmed,
     Secretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), who
     addressed key issues related to the strength, stability and enhancing
     international linkages between Islamic finance jurisdictions. Baroness
     Sayeeda Warsi of the House of Lords, who has been a key driving force in
     the progress made by the UK in Islamic finance, said in her special keynote
     address that London is fast emerging as a key centre of Islamic finance
     offering billions in earnings as well as funding for major infrastructure
     projects.

 16. 2015
     
     WIBC celebrated 40 years of the Global Islamic Finance Industry in its 22nd
     edition, enabling it to evolve into a globally renowned brand standing for
     excellence, innovation & growth. In 2015, WIBC introduced various new
     topics including a focus on Fintech, Digital Banking and a large interest
     on Ethical Banking. WIBC’s tremendous success was portrayed in its
     representation of over 1300 delegates from over 50 countries, with 94
     partners and over 70 high profile and globally renowned speakers.

 17. 2016
     
     In its 23rd edition, WIBC spearheaded a series of discussions centred
     around the theme of “Economic Uncertainties: Vigilance & Growth” and
     witnessed the launch of no less than 5 intelligence reports by Thomson
     Reuters, EY and Simply Sharia. A dedicated fintech stream in the form of
     Enterprise Excellerate was launched on the sidelines of WIBC with the aim
     of highlighting the fintech proposition of the Middle East. WIBC 2016
     registered participation from a staggering 1300 delegates, 98 partners, 135
     high profile speakers from across 50 countries, further boosting the
