CALL ON THE UK TO PROTECT CIVILIANS IN GAZA

CALL ON THE UK TO PROTECT CIVILIANS IN GAZA

Sign

Palestinians in Gaza are facing an unparalleled humanitarian catastrophe as a
direct of Israel’s ongoing indiscriminate bombardment and siege. Israel’s
attacks have killed over 29,000 people, including more than 11,500 children,
destroyed thousands of homes, and displaced over 1.9 million people.

The tightening of Israel’s siege of Gaza – cutting off supplies of food,
medicine, fuel, and aid – represents collective punishment of all 2.2 million
people living in Gaza, around half of whom are children.

With more than 69,000 people injured so far, Gaza’s healthcare system is on the
brink of catastrophic collapse. Gaza is now suffering the world’s worst hunger
crisis and is on the verge of famine, with staff reporting families going days
without eating anything at all. Israel’s bombing has destroyed Gaza’s health,
water and sanitation systems, and the risk of disease is spiralling out of
control.

The ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) underlines the utter
horror of what is being allowed to happen in Gaza, and the urgency of stopping
it. Alongside the provisional measures that the ICJ has ordered, there must be
an immediate ceasefire. The ruling’s requirement for aid to reach those in need
will only be possible with a ceasefire and an end to Israel’s siege.

The UK must act now to save Palestinian lives.

4,531
4,531 signatures

Sign our petition and urge the UK Government to:

 * Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to prioritise the preservation
   of human life.

 * Demand that Israel immediately ends its complete siege of Gaza and ensures
that humanitarian aid safely reaches people in need in accordance with
humanitarian principles. Israel must allow safe and unimpeded entry of fuel,
water, food, and other humanitarian necessities into Gaza.

 * Demand that all parties comply with international law and demand that Israel
takes all measures within its powers to comply with the ICJ ruling in January
2024 to ensure that civilians are protected from harm. All parties must not
target civilians or civilian infrastructure and must ensure that civilians
have access to basic necessities such as water, food and power.

 * Immediately reverse its suspension of UNWRA aid funding as the UK government
has an urgent responsibility to ensure that Palestinian civilians in Gaza are
getting the aid needed now more than ever.
