In the Avalanche’s 6-3 win over the Blues, Kadri hit St. Louis defenseman Justin Faulk high and hard. He was given a five-minute major for the hit and a game misconduct while Faulk exited after being knocked out cold. That definitely was a dirty hit from Kadri, and it’s not the first time he has done something like this. When he was with the Maple Leafs in 2018 and 2019, Kadri was suspended in two consecutive postseason series for hits against the Bruins. The first saw him get a three-game suspension for boarding Tommy Wingels. A year later, he was banned for the final five games of the Leafs-Bruins series for cross-checking Jake DeBrusk. MORE: Bruins’ Craig Smith nets game-winner off Capitals miscue Because of Kadri’s history, the Blues are hoping the Avalanche forward will get his sixth career suspension. “The guy can’t control himself,” said Blues center Brayden Schenn, per ESPN. “In the playoffs, he’s a repeat offender. Bad hits. Greasy hits. He had a guy in a vulnerable position and he picked nothing but the head.” And Blues captain Ryan O’Reilly echoed Schenn’s sentiments after the game. “That’s a very dangerous hit. It’s gotta be a suspension,” O’Reilly said. “He’s a repeat offender. It’s completely uncalled for. That’s awful to see.” Soon enough, we’ll see what the league does, but in all likelihood the Avalanche, up 2-0 in the series, will have to try to dispatch the Blues without Kadri. And they may be without him even longer considering his troubling history of playoff antics.
