India, 13th September 2022: Today’s workplace has evolved and is different from
what it was 24 months ago, and it will differ from what we shall witness 24
months from now. The pandemic has disrupted many norms and well-accepted
notions. We have grown from a period where work completion was assumed to be
dependent on the place of work, and performance on close monitoring and
scrutiny, while workplace experience was interlinked to office infrastructure.
The 3rd Annual ReThink HR Conclave 2022 was conducted by Sapphire Connect on the
2nd of September 2022 at Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza, New Delhi, and it focused on
embracing change and transformation in work, workforce and workplace.



Addressing the audience on Leadership – leading with resilience we had Ms.
Preeti Reddy, Chairwoman South Asia Insights Division, Kantar, who started by
defining who a resilient is, she said, “A resilient leader sees failure only as
a temporary setback and is not something permanent, they recover quickly and the
maintain a positive attitude, positive outlook to what they do. When they are
faced with ambiguity, they find a way to move forward and not get stuck with
baggage and sustain their energy level under tremendous pressure. Resilience is
not only mental but physical, and you have to sustain energy levels. Finally,
they need to communicate powerfully."

Organisations in future are going to be about implementing an employee-centric
approach to design the work-workforce-workplace. While talking on a panel
discussion on Rethinking Performance Management: Future-proofing the
Compensation, Rewards, Benefits & Wellness Strategy, Ms. Kavita Dasan, Chief
People Officer, ABP Network, said, “For employees to be happy after appraisals,
there is no science. There is nothing that can be done where you can please all
after the performance appraisals. We must replace annual appraisals with
continuous feedback and make it more transparent, structured quantitative and
qualitative, and finally data driven." Talking about employee wellness and
well-being at workplace, we had, Ms. Pratishtha, Senior Clinical Psychologist,
Amaha, she highlighted, “In the past 2 years the need for mental health support
has grown significantly. The number of people struggling have increased like 35%
in anxiety depressive disorders, 80% increase in health being sort. Most of the
organization focus on one size fits all approach, it does not involve
leadership. It gives the onus of the employees well-being in the own hands. The
employee is at a workplace not to feel better but to do their jobs and for them
to be able to focus on doing their jobs someone else needs to focus on them."



With the Future of Work accelerating due to digital adoption and new demands
being placed on businesses and employees, employers are redesigning work,
workforce and workplace. During a panel discussion on Web 3.0, we had Ms.
Kashish Kapoor, CHRO, NEC India share her experience, she said, “Because of the
quantum leap that digitization took, we have acquired a lot of tools, we have
created a lot of options. The workspace parallelly has been undergoing changes
from completely work from home to hybrid to now a mixture of back to office. We
are now going to start evaluating on how we are going to build our EVP’s from a
long term future of work perspective to bringing in the right kind of mix or
tools which we will need to build the efficiency and agility and engagement of
this workforce."

The conclave also organized Speed Connect an exclusive one-of-its-kind
opportunity for recruitment agencies and academic institutions who had the
chance to meet from an extensive list of employment partners.

Furthermore, to build an enduring organization—one with the right people
possessing the right capabilities in the right roles at the right time—three
talent management strategies are necessary: redeployment, reskilling, and
upskilling. Talking about the need to understand skill gap, we had, Ms. Aarti
Kohli, Director HR, Bausch + Lomb, she said, “When we look at the skill gap we
need to understand what is the barrier which leaders face so as to address the
skill gap. The when, what and how is something that all leader’s kind of
struggle with when it comes to skill problem."



The conclave also organized Speed Connect an exclusive one-of-its-kind
opportunity for recruitment agencies and academic institutions who had the
chance to meet from an extensive list of employment partners. The Speed Connect
witnessed around 40+ Employment partners, 75+ Recruitment partners, 35+ Academic
partners and 50+ MOU’s at the event. Jasminder Singh, Director, Mastermind
Network who attended as an Agency Partner said, “The Speed Connect is a faster
way to connect & engage with Clients face to face and other partners in the
industry as well to build network. I think it is a fantastic platform to learn
and connect with the HR fraternity"
