guns are good, the people that think guns are bad are going to automatically
hate that song. I don’t think you can ever be too preachy, the only people that
think he’s too preachy are the people don’t believe what he is preaching for.
Nowadays in Hip Hop there isn’t enough serious disses. He is actually rhyming
and making sense which leaves no corniness involved. In my opinion these diss
tracks are nowhere near corny. So he says earlier in Hopsin’s career when he
would diss a lot of rappers his disses would be corny. He came up with 3 reasons
why he thinks Hip Hop hates Hopsin and I’m going to go in depth and prove all 3
wrong. Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Drake, Tyler, The Creator, Rick Ross and Lupe

Him and his crew kept the crowd alive the whole time. At one point, there was a
whole entourage of at least 10 people with him on stage. He performed "National
Anthem" and " What It B Like" two of my favorite songs, as well as many others.
I was pushed against the stage with Gibbs literally standing right in front of
me. I was in the front row and for the other acts I had plenty of room to stand,
but when Gibbs came out my personal space was no longer existent. When Freddie
Gibbs came on stage everyone had their hands in the air ready for him, including
myself. There was also an R&B feel to his music as well as spoken word feel to
his music, which I was definitely feeling as a lover of poetry and spoken word.
He wasn't just a rapper, but he also sang on several of his tracks, unlike the
other rappers that performed. However once he got into a few more songs, I began
to warm up to his style. When he first started performing I was not too
impressed.

He was different from the other rappers that performed. Last to hit the stage
before Freddie Gibbs was Alpha.Live. He wasn't quite my style of hip-hop, but I
have to give him props as an artist and as a performer. He was very into the
music and the crowd was responsive. I had listened to a few of his songs online
before the concert so I kind of knew what to expect from him. Sonny Bamboo, a
rapper from Indianapolis, was next up. I was really unsure of what their skill
level was going to be, but they ended up being pretty decent. They did a few
songs, and were attempting to get the crowd hype and ready for the main act. I
had never heard him before, but I really liked his style and music
selection.įirst to the mic was R-Juan, a local Bloomington rap group. When I
arrived DJ Metrognome was already on the turn tables mixing old school hip-hop
jams. When I walked in, I noticed it was a nice intimate setting with nothing
but open space to stand, perfect for a rap concert. When I got to The Bishop I
didn't know what to expect of the venue because I had never been there before.
Getting to meet and talk with him definitely got me hyped for the concert later
that night. He was exactly what I hear many people describe him as: down to
earth. I'm blessed to be here because I could be in prison or something". I
asked him how he felt about the show that night and he said " I'm feeling good,
I'm ready to rock. He was really nice and took the time to let me ask him some
questions. When I walked into Dope Couture the lights were dim and there was a
DJ playing music, and there was Freddie Gibbs looking at clothes.

with Red Bull as the primary DJ for Indiana as well as being selected to
represent the dynamic Red Bull Music Academy. Additionally, as part of Old Soul
Entertainment and Class of 93 Promotions & Marketing, MetroGnome has
conceptualized and created countless special events and themed parties, learning
the art of pulling in the people. Spinning records has also taken him across the
country, playing in venues in many cities and states, as well as backing up
Grammy-winning artist Ludacris in concert and opening for hip hop icons Rakim,
Ghostface, Lupe Fiasco, Eric Roberson, and others. Having established himself as
Indy’s “go-to” DJ for many of the city’s best parties, special events, concerts,
and countless clubs, both locally and nationally, he is always providing an
outlet for the people to experience an alternative to the mundane, copy-cat ways
found far too often in the nightlife and music scenes. Whether it be boom bap
hip hop, dusty funk, undeniable reggae & dancehall, feel-good house, Bmore
bangers, relaxing down-tempo and soul, future classics or random throwbacks from
decades prior, you will find yourself moving to or inspired by the music.
