BASIC OVERVIEW OF FASTPASS SELF SERVICE
FastPass is a software application running on-site or as a cloud service. It is
Windows server based and supports local and remote users in a secure model.
Active user accounts are found in Active Directory. Users access a web portal
where they select what password to reset or unlock and choose how to
authenticate. FastPass doesn’t require many resources for the operation.
The IT security manager decides different processes for different user groups,
and this is then implemented in the FastPass Administration Management Console.
For users to use access the password reset software portal, enrollment is the
first step. Enrollment can be forced or an automated email invitation process.
No matter what device the user has, she can always access the web based FastPass
portal. Even from a PC when the user has forgotten the password, FastPass will
still help the user to do self-service. The user can change password, unlock
password or reset password.
The user is free to authenticate in many different ways including questions and
answers, SMS Pin-codes, SMART card, Authenticators, Manager Approval plus many
other ways. It can even be multi factor authentication MFA.
The controller can do analytics work on the log data from FastPass or from the
FastPass standard reporting, which will also be the base for monitoring and
auditing.
FastPass doesn’t support privileged passwords or personal password management.
