CATAGEN APPROACH



The CATAGEN ageing approach has been used by global OEMs for development &
homologation requirements. CATAGEN conduct all aftertreatment ageing and
characterisation at full scale on aftertreatment systems using internationally
patented technology The OMEGA; a Synthetic Gas Recirculating Reactor.

Our OMEGA technology allows us to match your desired catalyst temperatures,
emissions and mass flows and add additional compounds to the gas composition
such as ammonia for diesel accelerated ageing. Using our technology we can
perform a range of characterisation tests for heavy-duty applications to
understand performance of the aftertreatment component over time such as,
Ammonia Storage Test, NOx/NH3 Ratio Tests & NO/NH3 Light-Off Tests.

Using our physical and virtual toolset we can track the ageing experience in
real time using the proprietary CATAGEN Ageing Metric. This metric can be used
to quantify the total ageing experience and help design ageing protocols and
cycles for the development of representative aftertreatment components.

INDUSTRY EMISSIONS LEGISLATION



The Euro VI-D legislation for heavy-duty engines approvals entered into force on
1 September 2018 for new types and has applied to all new engines from 1
September 2019. The Euro VI-E entered into force on 1 September 2020 for new
types and will apply to all new engines from 1 September 2021. This stage
includes consideration of cold-start emissions in data evaluation of the PEMS
testing, as well as the measurement and evaluation of PN during the on-road
test.

Particle Number (PN) measurement will be included in Euro VI Step E from the
beginning for compression ignition engines. For positive ignition engines
(natural gas mainly in heavy duty) the PN will need to be declared for
monitoring purposes for new type approved vehicles from 01/01/2021 and will need
to be complied with from 01/01/2023.
