Upcoming Enhancements to Reports

Discover the latest improvements to Reports and learn how they elevate your data
experience.

Written by Jacqueline S.
Updated today

We are soon releasing some dynamic enhancements to Reports to allow for improved
performance and more extensive reporting capabilities:

 * Introducing a new version of Advanced search and the upcoming retirement of
   the “contains phrase” operator.

 * Enhanced report snapshots for speedier dashboard loading

INTRODUCING A NEW VERSION OF ADVANCED SEARCH

Soon the Report Builder will support two Advanced search options: an upgraded
version and the original one, ensuring a seamless transition. This upgrade is
just the first step towards the forthcoming addition of the “has reference to”
operator into the new Advanced search. This upcoming operator will enable you to
effectively find components based on references to other components or component
types using Advanced search.

Through the initial release of the new version of Advanced search, you will be
able to:

 * Search your data with greater precision: The “contains substring” operator
will search the entire field value, going beyond the old version's
   50-character limitation.

 * Enjoy improved flexibility and discoverability: The "contains phrase" and
“does not contain phrase” operators are not available in the new version of
Advanced search. Instead you can use the “contains substring” and “does not
contain substring” operators to get similar yet more accurate and
   comprehensive search results.

👉 Please note that search results might change as “contains substring” is more
flexible and matches any instance of the specified substring within the content.
Learn more about the difference between “contains phrase” and “contains
substring” in this KB article.

In time, we will retire the old Advanced search and with it the “contains
phrase” operator will also be discontinued. Once they are retired:

 * Existing reports using the old Advanced search will be automatically switched
over to the latest version. Reports employing any operator except for
"contains phrase" and "does not contain phrase" will remain unchanged.

 * Existing reports using the “contains phrase” and “does not contain phrase”
operators will be automatically switched over to use “contains substring” and
   “does not contain substring” respectively.

 * All new reports created with the new version of Advanced search will remain
   intact.

👉 We strongly recommend switching existing reports over to the latest Advanced
search version and opting for the "contains substring" operator where it is
relevant to be ready for the eventual retirement of “contains phrase”. We will
provide additional details closer to the date.

ENHANCED REPORT SNAPSHOTS FOR SPEEDIER DASHBOARD LOADING

We are soon changing the way in which we create report snapshots for enhanced
dashboard performance. With this change, Line and Stacked Bar charts will:

 * Exhibit improved performance and load data faster

 * Display the same color for current and historical field values

 * Display field data from the day they were added to the report. Rest assured,
this change will not lead to any loss of data in your dashboards.
