As Freddie Mac’s credit policy risk analytics manager, he manages the Freddie Mac team of appraisal experts in the redesign of the Uniform Residential Appraisal Report (URAR); a joint effort with Fannie Mae to update the Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) to reflect changes to the appraisal industry, address future appraisal needs, and facilitate ongoing digitization in the appraisal process and the mortgage industry. Originally hired by Freddie Mac for the creation and design of the Loan Collateral Advisor (LCA); a web-based tool that analyzes appraisal reports and provides a view of appraisal quality and valuation risk. Prior to Freddie Mac, Sean supervised the calibration of the cost and market models for all residential real estate assessments for Fairfax County, Virginia’s most populated county. GARETH BORCHERDS JARO Gareth Borcherds is the Managing Director of Ascent Software Group, a position he has held since founding the company in 2018. Gareth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Penn State University and earned his MBA from Purdue University. LELAND TRICE OPTEON Lee Trice founded The Trice Group in 1987. After growing that firm to become the largest appraisal company in the MidAtlantic Region, Lee co-founded Valucentric with Real Valuation Services to replicate that success on a national scale. In 2021, Valucentric was acquired by Opteon to escalate growth around AMC, Appraisal Staff, and PropTech SaaS solutions. Lee was awarded professional designations from the Appraisal Institute and RICS, which is a global and multi-discipline valuation professional organization. JASON FERRIS, MAI, SRA APPRAISAL INSTITUTE Jason Ferris holds a Certified General Appraiser license in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Originally from Cincinnati, Jason graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Morehead State University and served in the United State Air Force for 6 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. After working in the technology industry for several years, Jason shifted to real estate appraisal work. Beginning in 2003 at Stickelman, Schneider & Associates in Dayton, Ohio, one of the largest appraisal firms in the Midwest, Jason completed residential and commercial appraisals in the Dayton and Cincinnati markets. Then, in 2006, he expanded Stickelman’s footprint to Louisville, Kentucky. In 2011, he began working for Lin Bell, MAI, SRA completing commercial appraisals in the Louisville and southern Indiana markets. Jason earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2013 and his SRA designation in 2014. Jason has continued to partner with Lin Bell since then and now manages the company, Lin Bell & Associates, Inc. In November 2014, the company name was changed to Bell Ferris, Inc. JARED PREISLER DATAMASTER Jared Preisler, SRA has been involved in the appraisal industry for over 25 years as an independent fee appraiser serving Northern Utah. Jared is currently the Chief Appraiser for DataMaster, while continuing as an independent fee appraiser and trainer. He earned both the SRA and AI-RRS designations from the Appraisal Institute. He is an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor and he is licensed in Utah to teach both real estate and appraisal continuing education courses. He serves on the Directors Board of the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. Since 2010, he has also been a member of the Board of Trustees and Vice President of the Utah Association of Appraisers (UAA). Jared has developed several CE courses for the real estate profession in his roles with UAA, the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and DataMaster. Prior to becoming and appraiser, Jared earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State University. He also owned a remodeling and construction company – Home Inspection Company – and 64 rental properties. Jared and his wife Lisa have four children, with one granddaughter on the way. BYRON MILLER BM APPRAISALS Byron Miller, SRA, AI-RRS, ASA, RRA, MSSE, is a certified residential appraiser licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
