See daily updates.More Information Home > Emergency Information EMERGENCY INFORMATION FOR MSU MOORHEAD NETWORK OUTAGE NETWORK ISSUES UPDATE #18 Monday, February 19, 2024 [3:51 PM]: Dragons – We don’t have much new to share today, but some of our admissions systems are back up, which is great for our recruitment efforts, and dining is fully operational. We appreciated the fair media coverage as we shared the cause of our outage, and we continue to appreciate your patience and resilience as the IT team works to bring more systems online. Links & Notes * Two-factor authentication. Employees and students will notice a new, more secure log in for MSUM applications (like myMSUM), which will require two-factor authentication. * Daily updates. Read the latest Network outage daily updates. * Wi-Fi- access. Visit MSUM Internet & Wi-Fi Access for Wi-Fi troubleshooting. If that doesn’t work, visit the Help Desk so they can assist and document issues or send an email to support@mnstate.edu. * Computer labs are open. Computer Labs locations. Email support@mnstate.edu to report service outages. * Website functionality. Email issues to webteam@mnstate.edu. * Keys: Email msumkeys@mnstate.edu to request keys. Please copy the appropriate chair/approver as all requests must be approved. * Printing. * Print Shop (email your file to printing@mnstate.edu [preferred] or bring a USB drive) * Help Desk print station (bring a USB drive) * Outages. Email support@mnstate.edu to report outages of services listed as What's Available. Students: * MSUM Scholarship Application. Deadline: Friday, February 23 at 11:59 p.m. Contact finaid@mstate.edu with questions. * Campus dining has resumed normal operations. Transactions (credit/debit, Dragon Dollars, meal plan swipes) were recorded during the outage. Overdrafts of Dragon Dollars, meal plan swipes, and declined credit/debit charges will be applied to student/employee accounts. * Please unplug personal routers in residence halls. Additional routers are interrupting the restoration process. * Residence hall option. Housing residents can plug in an ethernet cable (network wire) to port #4 on the bottom of the room access point to access the Internet. If you don't have an ethernet cable, go to the Help Desk to get one. You will need a network port on your laptop or an adapter for an ethernet cable to work. Employees: * H Drive files. We are in the early stages of working to migrate employee H Drives to OneDrive accounts. We rely on System Office resources for this process and cannot predict a completion date. The team is also actively working on a solution to access S Drive files. * Windows Laptops. If you have an MSUM Windows Laptop, please follow these instructions to shut down DirectAccess while you are on the MSUM network. This will not work if you are on a different network. These instructions will help alleviate issues with your computer as services become available. 1. Click on the start button and choose the gear icon (right above power). 2. Find Network & Internet and open it. 3. Find DirectAccess on the left side menu. (If DirectAccess is not listed in the left side menu, then you can disregard the rest of these instructions.) 4. If DirectAccess is connecting, please disconnect it. Wait about 10 minutes and check to make sure it’s disconnected. It usually tries to reconnect again. 5. After about 90 minutes of continued connection to the MSUM network, DirectAccess will disappear from the menu. * Wireless Internet. We are still working to get wireless internet stable. Many areas of campus are having issues, and we need to know those locations. Please call the Help Desk at 218.477.2603 or email support@mnstate.edu to let us know the building, floor and room. We may not be able to get it fixed right away, but this will help us prioritize a repair plan. Calling is encouraged as the team will be able to ask the questions needed to resolve the issue.
