When Edward Enninful became editor in chief of British Vogue in August 2017, he
made history as the first man and the first Black person to lead the century-old
glossy publication. He arrived with a significant amount of good will within the
fashion industry along with the burden of high expectations. British Vogue was
known for its substantial prose, its upper-crust lineage and its mostly White
staff and cover models.
