   Are you surprised that people live good lives, even with back pain? If you
   suffer from severe back pain, this statement may come as a surprise for you.
   
   Put a towel behind your back. Your back pain might be caused, or at least
   exacerbated, by poor posture. If you find that you are sitting for long
   periods of time, try rolling up a towel. Place this behind the small of your
   back while you are sitting. It can improve posture and alleviate back pain.
   
   Maintain proper posture in order to prevent back pain. It is important to
   stand, sit and walk properly so that your muscles and ligaments do not pull
   your vertebrae out of alignment and cause pain. Your head, neck and spine
   should be aligned properly at all times to help prevent any pain.
   
   Make sure to always remember to stretch before you attempt any sort of
   exercise or physical activity. Stretching allows your back to get prepared
   for the activity to come. Forgetting this important step can lead to serious
   pain later on and that is what we want to avoid.
   
   Do not slouch for any amount of time for any reason, like when you vacuum.
   When you slouch as you vacuum, you force your body to constantly reach
   forward, thus causing back pain. Always use good posture and distribute your
   weight evenly. This will make your housecleaning tasks easier, while helping
   you to avoid painful back problems after the fact.
   
   There are all different sorts of back pain medicines, and that includes
   prescription and over-the-counter varieties. It is crucial that you consult a
   physician before you make any decisions about medication. Over the counter
   medicines can be helpful, but if they do not help then you must consult your
   doctor to get stronger medicines that require a prescription.
   
   If you’re carrying 10 pounds more than your optimal weight, then try going on
   a diet. Carrying extra pounds, especially in the stomach, interferes with
   your balance. This causes strain to your back, and that can easily lead to
   lower-back pain.
   
   Stretches and flexibility exercises can go a long way in preventing and even
   getting rid of back pain. If these stretches are done properly and according
   to guided direction you will see the results. Yoga is a good idea for certain
   situations, and especially for preventative measures. Talk to your doctor,
   and do all that you can for prevention of back pain.
   
   An inversion table is a great tool for helping people with back pain. It
   essentially turns you upside down and reverses the force of gravity, allowing
   the ideal shifting of your body, weight, and proportionate back. Therefore,
   it can go a long way in alleviating back pain symptoms and forcing
   correction.
   
   Many women suffer from back pain during pregnancy. A growing baby changes
   your center of gravity and causes you to lean back to counteract this,
   causing pain in the lower back. The best remedy for this is good posture. Sit
   straight and keep your shoulders back. Sit in a comfortable chair and relax.

   If you are pregnant and suffering from back pain, consider a maternity belt
   to alleviate some of the discomfort. The growing belly can really make
   standing straight difficult, but a maternity belt supports the stomach,
   thereby reducing strain on the back. Comfortable, low-heeled shoes are
   equally important for good posture.
   
   As your teacher may have told you when you were young, you shouldn’t have bad
   posture, so work to keep the right posture if you want to help ease your back
   pain. Always strive to keep your back straight, your shoulders squared, and
   your head high. This is the body’s natural position.
