MESSAGES

Messages from our directors

"When I look back at 2023, I am proud to be part of MCF. Despite a tough and
unpredictable year, the foundation was able to kickstart construction and
renovations at the Oasis Wellness Center in Westview, Kadoma Zimbabwe. Last
year, the MCF managed to partner with the RedRev Youth Empowerment Fund in
various programs concientising the youth against drug and alcohol abuse as well
as assisting senior citizens and war veterans suffering from PTSD, Orthopedic
and podiatric ailments in Zimbabwe. To our donors, thank you for enabling our
work through your generosity. You fuel our mission and we are here because of
your commitment to those we serve. With gratitude and best wishes"

MARIA OLUKOYA-CHIKARA DIRECTOR

" Our strategic plan for 2024 to 2030 will focus on intensifying focus on our 3
main areas which are, Youth Mental Health, Elderly care and community
assistance. As the MCF, we will also be implementing our expansion plan. This
plan is centered around the setting up and construction of Oasis Wellness Center
in the 10 provincial capitals of Zimbabwe. Im very grateful to each and every
one of you. Its an honor to be your teammate. As you scroll through this
website, i hope you take pride in seeing all we were able to accomplish together
in the midst of a difficult operational and fundraising environment."

LOREEN CHIKARA (NHS-UK)DIRECTOR

ABOUT US

MCF was founded by two sisters in memory of their late parents Felix and Maria
Chikara who were health care pillars of the community they served. Both parents
made long lasting impact issues around health and well being.

The two daughters relocated to the UK and both followed in the giant footsteps
of their mother and became nurses in mental health and general nursing. They are
now on a mission to provide quality healthcare for the benefit of local
vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe and the SADC.

OUR PROGRAMMES

Here is a short list of some of the foundations initiatives

SAY NO TO DRUGS

In July 2023, MCF together with UNDP and DrugFree Zimbabwe organised a march on
the streets of the capital Harare on the International day against drug abuse
and illicit trafficking. At the present moment MCF is undertaking campaigns in
Kadoma and chegutu to raise awareness against drug abuse. Our Oasis center is
dedicated to the rehabilitation of recovering addicts

ALCOHOL LEVEL AWARENESS

Zimbabwe has been ranked one of the countries with a high alcohol consumption
rate per capita. Our Alcohol Awareness Programme aims to educate bar and
nightclub owners on how to spot detrimental alcohol levels in patrons and how to
safely deal with an intoxicated individuals. We aim to lobby legislators to
ensure laws are passed that ensure safe drinking as well as introduce
breathalyzers for law enforcement agents.

OASIS WELLNESS CENTERS

The oasis wellness centers are clinics currently being built and setup by the
Maria Chikara Foundation. The inaugural clinic located in Westview, Kadoma is
currently as May 2024 under renovation and will be opened to the public April
2024

PODIATRIC & ORTHOPEDIC CARE FACILITY

A community is only as healthy as its weakest members. The disabled within our
communities thus require special attention . The MCF is currently setting up
Podiatric and Orthopedic facilities within its Oasis Wellness Clinic
