* Master’s Scholarship for Syrian refugees-deadline May 31 File
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is pleased to announce the
“Japanese Initiative for the Future of Syrian Refugees (JISR)” call for
applications for the academic year 2022. Up to 5 scholarship slots covering
master’s degree in Japanese universities will be made available for Syrian
refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. The deadline for submission of applications
is Tuesday, 31st May, 2022.

The U.S. Embassy and Amideast/Lebanon are pleased to announce the opening of
the annual application process for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program.
The Program supports Lebanese students to pursue a master’s degree in the
United States during the 2023-2025 academic years.
The Fulbright Program welcomes students of all backgrounds to apply,
including those with disabilities. Participants are chosen through an open,
merit-based competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence,
and the ability to adjust to life in the United States are taken into
consideration.
The Fulbright Program is an academic and cultural exchange program that aims
to increase mutual understanding between the United States and Lebanon. In
this spirit, preference will be given to applicants whose master’s degrees
will contribute to Lebanon or to Lebanese-American relations. Preference
will also be given to applicants who have not had previous opportunities to
study in the United States.

Applications for SSI 2021 are now open (Summer STEM Institute (SSI), a
six-week virtual summer program). The program consists of three main parts:
* Research and data science bootcamp: Students learn how to design and
conduct data science research projects. Students learn about the research
process and how to apply statistical and machine learning methods to
address scientific questions with real-world impact.
* Masterclass lecture series: Students are connected to accomplished young
adults around the world. Students have the opportunity to learn about
entrepreneurship from Forbes 30 Under 30 recipients, science research from
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) grand prize winners, and
other topics from speakers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
* Mentored research project: Students complete a research project through a
rigorous, hands-on learning experience under the guidance of mentors.
Previously, students have worked in a variety of fields, from
computational biology to quantum physics.
