NEW YORK — Another civil case against former president Donald Trump begins this
week. It is the second trial to be held in a pair of cases against Trump brought
by his sexual assault accuser E. Jean Carroll.

The trial is expected to be brief and very limited in scope, because a jury,
which could be selected as early as Tuesday, will be asked only to determine
whether damages should be awarded for defamatory comments Trump made in 2019
while he was in office.
