Death Star back to the Falcon, where they were eventually able to leave, but
only with the sacrifice of Obi-Wan Kenobi at the hands of Darth Vader. Once

Rebel Soldiers holding off advancing AT-AT walkers (Blizzard Force), while
attempting the evacuate Echo Base. They used an ion cannon to disable the
orbiting Star Destroyers so the unarmed transports could slip by. The AT-AT
walkers were too heavily armored to destroy with sheer lasers, so Rogue
Squadron, who were flying Snowspeeders, used tow cables to tie up the legs of
the walkers, rendering them useless. Colonel Veers, in the lead AT-AT, managed
to make his way to the shield generator and destroyed it. With that, Imperial
forces started landing en masse and took Echo Base, though most key figures in
the Rebel Alliance had managed to escape (such as Luke Skywalker and Princess
Leia).
