BEIJING
HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Beijing area.

Home of the Great Wall of China, and the Forbidden City built by the Ming
Dynasty, Beijing offers over 6,000 years of art, architecture, music and
cuisine. Even during the displacement of Chinese aristocracy by Mao Tse-Tung’s
People’s Republic of China, Beijing still was regarded as the City of Rulers,
and is now regaining its former stature as the spiritual and culture center of
mainland China, though physically closer to the Yellow Sea in China’s northeast
than to the country’s geographic center. The emergence of modernity makes the
adjacent historical landmarks of old Peking seem that much more precious and
vivid, but also has greatly encouraged Western tourism by making Beijing’s
treasures that much more accessible and hospitable to the contemporary visitor.

You can begin researching lodging properties and on-site restaurants in the
Beijing area by selecting one of the options shown below.

Area Facts: In 1979, the Chinese replaced the British Wade-Giles name-spelling
system used in Chinese-English translations with the more Americanized “pinyin”
system, which the U.S. also uses. Mao Tse-Tung, for example, is written as Mao
Zedung in all current official documents. The international area code for the
People’s Republic of China is 86.
