The Big Day In - Presenter and VR Exhibition Stall- May 2024 

Over 100 Year 9-12 school students from various schools attended the Big Day In.
I presented and held an exhibition stall with VR headsets where students got to
play my VR driving safety experience.

I presented at 1:45pm for Big Day In on the content below:

‘Journey Of A Local Software Developer’ - Zephyr Dobson is a Darwin born &
raised tough Territorian with a passion for all things tech and gaming. Zephyr’s
journey begins from studying a four-year degree of software engineering honours
at Charles Darwin University finishing with a research paper on virtual reality
then leading to working in various integration projects. In the six years since
graduating Casuarina Senior College, Zephyr has worked on a major IT Health
system being implemented across many hospitals in the NT, launched his own
software company known as Code Zephyr, developed 6 small-scale videogames for
local game jams where two of which are in virtual reality, run several in-person
virtual reality gaming sessions with youth playing his very own designed
videogames & is now responsible for delivering software integrations at CDU.
Supporting all things geek in the NT has lead to him being appointed secretary
for local NFP “Geek Culture Collective” before delivering TROPiCON 2023 event
which was another incredible success for the geek community.

Power and Water’s Bite of Science at CDU Open Day - VR Bus Safety Experience -
Aug 2023

School aged students experienced an upgraded version of the bus safety VR game I
made for the TrafficJam game jam (see details below).



Road Safety Game Jam (TrafficJAM) - Jun 2022

With the goal to share the importance of bus safety and to improve my VR
developing skills I made a 'Bus Safety Experience' for this game jam. This
experience includes two scenarios:

Bus Walk Home experience - Players will leave the bus and attempt to walk in
front of the bus on the way home and learn that it's dangerous to do so, after
which the experience restarts, and they must then walk behind the bus to get
home safely.

Protect Bus from Rocks experience - As a pedestrian on the bus you are
experiencing what its like to have rocks thrown at the bus while inside, as
windows shatter you must repair them by replacing them with new windows.

Fuel Log - Simple Fuel Tracking Application. Uses localstorage to store and
update the fuel log when new entries are added.

AR Uni - Web application based on the concept of launching augmented reality
walking journeys around the university campus, with an arrow pointing you in the
direction of a selected building.

CDU Food Ordering - PHP web application for ordering food from CDU campus
vendors, hosted by HEROKU and integrated with JAWSDB

2021

CDU Waste Aware - CDU based waste awareness web app for student use. Bin
locations and types are modifiable by administrators in a JawsDB. Also HEROKU
hosted.
