NEIGHBOURHOODS

GROUPWARE
WITH A PURPOSE

Most of us rely on social apps for work, play, and connection. Yet, we don’t
know why we see what we see, who sees us, how our feed is ordered, or how to
collectively address harms and injustices online.

It’s about time we had real input on groupware and how it operates!

SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE
FOR THE DISTRIBUTED WEB

Neighbourhoods separates the functions of a collaboration tool from the data
layer that makes up the group’s culture.

You and your group own the design and appearance of reactions, tags, ratings,
and permissions and how these subjective factors feed back into the behavior of
your collaboration tool.

SENSEMAKING WITHIN AND ACROSS NEIGHBOURHOODS

Using Holochain, peers can validate data and store records of their interactions
on their own computers. We believe in the promise of autonomy, agency, and truly
p2p communications.

Nevertheless, we’ve become accustomed to the recommendation, curation, and
sensemaking that helps us sort through the world’s information. Communities
should have the same control over their ways of perceiving, reacting, and
recognizing each other.

CREATE FROM A COMMONS-BASED MARKETPLACE

Want to create a neighbourhood? We offer a bootstrapping wizard and community
management modules that help you discover “generic tools” and “specific cultural
metrics” to pair together and iterate on as you go.

Developers contribute to this embedded marketplace so that creating a
neighbourhood requires more thoughtful consideration of culture and less coding.
Coding work and use of various modules are tracked, enabling a range of options
for supporting developers and the code commons.

Our native currency, $NHT, helps do just that. As of December 2021, $NHT has
been deployed on the ETH and MATIC chains. You can find it on decentralized
exchanges, like SushiSwap and Uniswap.

NHT Community Offering

Completed "community offering" of $NHT, December 2021, doubling our target. More
about the Offering here.

Memeable Viable Product (MVP 1.0)

“MVP” demonstration of reaction dynamism and its effects on social feed
ordering.

Open standards for NH-compatible modules

Documentation of standards for hApp modules that handle social data compatible
with rep_lang and the social sensemaker.

Reputation Wallet & Profile

An accessible means of visualizing reputation & credibility for members of
various neighbourhoods.

Community Activator Bootstrapping Wizard

A tool from which available modules, social data types, and more are indexed and
selected - the bones of the NH low-code marketplace.

NH Governance Dashboard

A tool for maintaining a neighbourhood, including responding to social data
sharing requests, altering scoring computations, and adding additional hApp
modules.

Hackathon for Reputation Design

Opportunities for early adopters to contribute designs that reflect their needs
to our emerging set of reputation data types.

Rep_lang

An interpreter for a lambda calculus-based, simply typed language: written in
Rust and developed in-house for use on social data.

Rep_lang Playground

A testing ground for rep_lang that creates functions for, and computations on,
social data as Holochain entries.

hApp module <> Social_Sensemaker plug-in

Architecture for plugging hApp modules into the social_sensemaker and making
social data usable in both.

Social data type conversion (bridging 1.0)

Conversion between a sensemaker instance and a hApp which is able to interface
with the sensemaker. Such hApps have their own Holochain Entry types which may
be convertible into/out-of rep_lang data types.

Data and Scoring Portability (in MVP 2.0)

Passage of social data between two sensemaker instances, in cases when the same
data type is shared across sensemaker instances and when different data types
are shared, requiring conversion.

Testing Transaction Settling in $NHT

Test accounting for a set of composable hApp modules, with transactions settled
in $NHT.
