I liked the second chance nature of this one. At about 9 hours, it’s a quick
read filled with a sweet romance. Oh boy do I love a dual narration audiobook! I
thought both narrators did a great job with their characters and really brought
this book to life.

Thank you to Jenny Proctor for the gifted audiobook! (A wedding dress heist? Why
not?) As they unravel the real reasons why Alex left New York-and Dani-will they
be able to rediscover the happily ever after they always hoped for? But when
Dani reappears in his life, his feelings quickly reignite, complicating
everything.ĭespite their reservations, Alex and Dani find plenty of ways to
spend time together. Stepson to Dani’s former boss, Alex had good reasons for
ghosting Dani, especially since she was still loyal to head designer Sasha
Wellington-the woman trying to take his stepfather’s company down. The only
problem? Alex lives in Charleston too. She only has one option: leave the city
and go home to Charleston to throw herself on her twin brother’s mercy. When
Dani’s dream job working for an elite fashion designer in New York explodes in

I was wondering about the origin of Christian Hermeticism and also the
differences between it and plain Hermeticism. I remind you that I'm not a
scholar nor do I have Devin's wisdom.

It's already written in the form of a post because I posted it once on another
forum when there was a discussion about the Meditations on the Tarot. So I'm
sort of posting this with great humility. Devin is a very knowledgeable person,
very clever too and he's also a much nicer person than I am. Now that is a very
daunting challenge there. So I mentioned that I'd once written a little paper on
the difference between Hermeticism and Christian Hermeticism and said I'd post
it if anyone was interested. And goes deeply (I mean DEEPLY into the 22 Arcana).
It's a book using as a golden thread the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot of
Marseilles. But it's an open secret that it was written by Valentin Tomberg.

It was written by Anonymous and was published posthumously in 1980. The full
title of the book is "Meditations on the Tarot - a Journey into Christian
Hermeticism". And how right it is to recommend such a wonderful book. In a
recent thread, the book Meditations on the Tarot was recommended by stronglove.

Thucydides introduces himself and his method and provides overviews both of the
Hellenic people across time and, more specifically, of the Peloponnesian War’s
numerous inciting events, which began immediately following the end of the
Persian War. Warner’s translation groups related chapters within each book under
subheadings, though these subheadings do not appear in the original
Greek text.īook 1 is the longest in the history and covers the broadest swath of
time. To facilitate study of the text, scholars have developed a system of
enumeration to correspond between the original Greek and translations: Each book
is made up of sections of varying lengths that are called chapters. Though
several of the books appear to be in-progress drafts, the eighth is thought to
be the most incomplete, organizationally, and may have been a collection of
notes. Scholars disagree about when the eight books that make up the history
were composed, in particular whether they were written over the course of many
years or after the war ended in 404. This guide refers to the Penguin Classics
edition translated by Rex Warner. Scholars note that Thucydides’ style is
uniquely dense and complex and thus challenging to translate.

As with any ancient text, much about the work is contested and much remains
unclear.

A DELUSION OF SATAN BY FRANCES HILL

Repeatedly, the reader is subjected to descriptions of motives, thoughts or
attitudes that can in no way be supported. Her lack of familiarity with the
psychological or psychoanalytic literature is most evident in her discussions of
anorexia.Beyond the psychological aspect, Hill fails to remain objective and
rely upon a base of evidence. Other than to name a few sources, such as Freud,
she fails to provide evidence in the narrative to support her claims.

Hill relies upon outdated psychoanalytic concepts to explain various events. The
perhaps greatest weakness is the attempt to wrap everything up in a pop
psychology framework. Despite being described as a scholarly work, the material
does not live up to that standard. I don't think I would be interested in
reading something else by Francis Hill. Would you be willing to try another book
from Frances Hill? Why or why not? I would very much enjoy listening to her
again.

Ms McCaddon is wonderful at reading the material. Would you try another book
from Frances Hill and/or Wanda McCaddon?

THE VINE WITCH SERIES

Having French vineyards at the turn-of-the-century relying on magic for their
harvest felt like a fresh take on magic, because of course you would use magic
in every aspect of life including making the best wine possible! The book’s
biggest issue that sort of affects every aspect of this book is its pacing. This
book excelled in its unique premise and setting, while having enjoyable enough
characters. Seeing a highly rated fantasy book this month made me very eager to
pick it up. I acquired this book through Amazon’s First Reads program in
September 2019. Now she must try to restore her vineyard to former glory while
seeking revenge on the one who cursed her.

When she returns home to her vineyard, she finds it under new ownership. Smith’s
debut novel, a witch who was cursed for seven years as a frog manages to break
out of the curse and turn back into a human.

The Vine Witch is a unique story about utilizing magic in a way I’d never seen
done before, managing vineyards. Each wine its own entity, each vintage as
unique as the heart and mind of the witch who crafted it.” This review contains
minor spoilers from the beginning of the book “Wine, after all, was a living,
breathing thing. A young witch emerges from a curse to find her world upended in
this gripping fantasy of betrayal, vengeance, and self-discovery set in
turn-of-the-century France.

DRAGONSINGER BY ANNE MCCAFFREY

Due to her gender, she is not allowed to share a dormitory with her fellow
all-male apprentices and must be housed with the female students, none of whom
are serious musicians and all of whom shun Menolly as an outsider. As the Hall's
first female apprentice, the Masters are divided on whether or not she is worth
training, causing Menolly to be greeted with various degrees of ambivalence.
Menolly arrives at Harper Hall to find herself the center of unwanted attention
and conflict. The story begins within hours of the final events of Dragonsong,
rounding out the tale of Menolly's coming of age. The novel follows Menolly, now
apprenticed into the Harper Hall, a type of music conservatory for harpers (
minstrels/educators) and other music professionals, as she begins her musical
training to become a harper herself one day. The original Dragonriders of Pern
trilogy was completed after publication of the first two Harper Hall books. Īs
the sequel to Dragonsong, it was the second book in the Harper Hall of Pern
trilogy, with a new publisher, editor, and target audience (young adults).

Published by Atheneum Books in 1977, it was the fourth to appear in the
Dragonriders of Pern series written by Anne McCaffrey and her son Todd
McCaffrey. Dragonsinger is a young adult science fiction novel by the

SEDUCTION AND SNACKS BY TARA SIVEC

Garrett who instantly became one of my favorite male characters of all time. I
can not tell you how much this made me fall in love with.with everything. It was
the perfect amount of friendship, tension, passion, and love.

I was allowed to see how their relationship developed from the very beginning,
but at the same time the story progressed. It made me feel a connect with the
characters that got under my skin it gave the book life.

I was given insight to both Garrett and Parker in every situation. The third
person took some getting use to, but it won me over and I loved it. Sivec is
able to exist on both ends of the spectrum and she does this flawlessly. Nope.I
more than loved it! I fell so hard I hit something I didn't see coming. So
before reading A Beautiful Lie I hailed Mary, lit a candle, threw some salt,
kissed a baby, and gave myself the "you will love this" pep talk. How can you go
from one literary extreme to another? How? Why? Call me a cynic, but my
expectations of this book were.I tried not to have any.
