Please stay tuned for the list of all participating vendors! 2024 LINEUP CLICK FOR SCHEDULE FESTIVAL MAP ALTARS From pre-Columbian times, the Day of the Dead has been celebrated throughout Mexico and Latin American countries. Today it is celebrated throughout the Americas on November 1 and 2, a time in which the living lovingly pay tribute and remember their departed friends and family members. Remembrances include family visits to the local cemetery, processions through town squares and inventive homemade altars honoring departed family members with photos, “Pan de Muerto” sweet bread and flowers. BUILD AN ALTAR Individuals, families, groups, organizations and schools are invited to build an altar at the festival. To learn more about the process or to apply, click below. Festivities include live music, original artwork, a dance, drum and puppet procession, live poetry, and the largest open altar exhibition in San Antonio. Food and beverage vendors available. Yes. For anyone purchasing alcoholic beverages, please have a valid ID readily available. WHAT IF IT RAINS? This event is rain or shine. CAN I BRING CHAIRS AND A COOLER? No. There will be plenty of space to sit in Hemisfair and vendors to purchase food and drinks from. You are welcome to bring blankets. PET FRIENDLY Hemisfair is an open-air park and dog-friendly. All well-behaved pups are welcome to join the festivities. We do ask pet parents to consider large, loud crowds if bringing their dogs.
