MORE ABOUT US

THE BUYING GROUP SOUTH AFRICA, BRINGS GROUP BUYING INTO THE MODERN ERA!

What makes us different:

 * We are also fellow Retailers looking for buying efficiencies for modern
   retailing.
 * We interact with our Members and Suppliers as PARTNERS, adding real value,
and standing up for their interests, to ensure a level playing field within
the group, while affording an advantage through advanced business practices.
 * Through buying efficiencies, The Buying Group adds to our Partner Members’
top and bottom line (both suppliers and retailers)
 * We ensure 100% transparency on deals.
 * We provide flexible participation opportunities beyond merely buying,
   operations and marketing.
 * We offer sustainability and compliance with the new, contemporary economy in
   mind.

Interested? If you’re sincere about being part of this new era, contact us
(click) – or watch this space.

WHAT ARE WE? WHY ARE WE HERE?

 * The Buying Group is a group of individuals that recognised that business
needed a new, enhanced approach, to remain current and relevant.
 * We realised that other individuals and businesses within a variety of
sectors, shared similar needs and views.
 * The current economic climate, socio-economic structures, governance
structures, new legislation and multiple business sector value chains also
require thought leadership and innovative approaches.
 * We realised that having an inclusive approach and creating key efficiencies
with like-minded individuals/businesses, we could create sustainable
platforms for our partners, clients, suppliers and communities.

 * We quickly realised the way to achieve our new vision was to start with a
clean slate and put our money where our (collective) mouths are. Only then
could we establish our credibility through commitment and create true
partnerships, without any historical baggage to contend with.
 * On this principle, The Buying Group established new business structures and
partnered with like-minded entrepreneurs to start the exciting journey
towards our vision. This includes the following:

 * * Integrating product supply, services and solutions.
   * Retail operation.
   * Consultancy services.
   * Buying efficiencies

LET’S FACE IT…

 * Buying Groups have become increasingly less able to distinguish themselves
   from one another.
 * Generally, their offering to SUPPLIERS and their MEMBERS relies on buying
muscle and ‘bullying’ tactics rather than buying efficiencies.
 * Little attention is given to efficiencies, as the corporate retailers use
buying muscle and contracts to dominate, thereby hindering competitors, and
limiting deal-making with smaller retailers, thus stifling grassroots growth.
 * Buying groups do not comply with new government legislation or its growth
   goals.

 * The current model favours volume-driven/incentivised groups at the expense of
   smaller independent entrepreneurs.
 * They hinder the goals of the broader South African economy, rather than
   contributing to them.
 * Although Suppliers, Retailers and Buying groups created this monster
unwittingly and over time, most stakeholders fully understand the
   irrationality of the current models.

Change is needed, the OLD MODEL IS BROKEN…time for Modernisation.

WHY JOIN US?

THE modern BUYING GROUP? (TmBG)

A BUYING Group or a SELLING Group?

It is interesting that, when the lifeblood for successful retailing is sales,
many independent retailers seeking to become a part of something bigger,
immediately think of Buying Groups. Although it is true to say that ‘buying
well’ sets the platforms for sales enablement.

In today’s market, being able to buy at a fair price is now mandated in law
(read more). In the recent past, when negotiating with suppliers, the promise of
volume purchases gave groups buying power to leverage their unity, in effect,
through collective muscle, strongarming suppliers. Those days are (legally)
over. Groups that have not yet read the memo, still use this archaic tactic —
illegally — to attract new members and reward existing members through the
sharing of rebates. There has been enough written on that topic, so I will
swiftly move on to the crux of this article.

So, the question must be asked: Are Buying Groups irrelevant? In the form of
using traditional tactics by leveraging buying power/muscle/volumes and sharing
a portion of the rebates with their members — YES — that model has no future and
should be considered extinct.
If aligned with the current competition commission act of receiving a better
price based on efficiencies (not volumes alone) and giving 100% of rebates BACK
TO MEMBERS, then Buying Groups will play a crucial and important role in the
future of retailing.

One might ask how Buying Groups will survive if no rebates are retained, as it
is their sole form of revenue. They need to modernise.

So, why join us?  The article title teases a solution, adopted by THE modern
BUYING GROUP (TmBG). With sales being the lifeblood for any business, TmBG has
aligned itself with the current competitions commission act and positioned
itself to offer the following:
·       Generate Sales Revenue for members
·       Give 100% of rebates back to members
·       Be 100% transparent
·       Still ensure the right buying price within the new laws
·       Long term solutions for growth, or even exit strategies, for your
business/es

THE modern BUYING GROUP uses a ‘first principles’ approach which leans towards
being a sales driven, modern BUYING GROUP. Our efforts as a Buying Group are so
intertwined with sales, that we have even considered a name change to THE modern
SALES GROUP… However, it may be too soon for the market to adapt to that vision!

TmBG only seeks to attracts retailers that fully understand and are aligned with
this approach. If you are a retailer receiving a portion of the rebates your
Buying Group deems fair —whilst adding no tangible value — then consider having
a ‘no obligation’ discussion with The modern Buying Group.

We’ll share with you where we see the future of modern retailing has moved and
let’s see if there are genuine synergies – There’s nothing to lose in talking.
