Nguzo Saba 365 An IAKG initiative to promote the
Seven Principles every day of the year Founder's Story

NGUZO SABA 365 -
PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES EVERYDAY

A t the Inland Area Kwanzaa Group, we believe shared values, common goals, and
committed daily practices are the key to sustained unity and development in the
Black community. We also believe that if the Nguzo Saba / the Seven Principles
were more widely understood and applied on a daily basis, we would restore our
traditional greatness, as the principle Nia / Purpose encourages. We would also
develop and reflect a greater perception of what it means to be Black people in
the world, effectively changing the world - because people follow us when we're
at our best.

That's why we are sponsoring the Nguzo Saba 365 initiative this year - a series
of weekly discussions and presentations based on topics relevant to the Black
community that apply the Seven Principles in some way. This effort intends to
help elevate perceptions of what it means to be Black people in the world while
promoting a mix of values based committed practices to manifest these elevated
perceptions of us for all to see. Our one-hour format includes ample time for
questions and discussion after a thirty minute presentation. Please take a look
at our schedule and do plan to join us for an upcoming session...

WHAT IS NGUZO SABA?

The Nguzo Saba are the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa - a seven day celebration of
African American and Pan African heritage and culture that takes place from
December 26th to January 1st each year. The Nguzo Saba were defined by Dr.
Maulana Karenga, a professor of Africana studies, to serve as a communitarian
African values system to help frame and inform our growth and progress thru a
positive reconnection with the best of African history and culture. The benefits
of the Nguzo Saba / the Seven Principles when applied are considerable,
measurable, indisputable, and would be multiplied several times over if we
focused on applying them 365 days each year. Please join us in our efforts to
link the Seven Principles with issues and topics of interest and those we
encounter in our daily lives to help expand our self understanding and what we
are willing to do because of it.
