RESILIENT MA ACTION TEAM (RMAT) TECHNICAL SUPPORT Weston & Sampson served as lead technical consultant for the Resilient MA Action Team (RMAT) in developing the Statewide Climate Resilience Design Standards Tool, released by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. This first-in-the-nation web-based beta tool makes preliminary climate resilience analyses broadly available to the public at no charge to inform “climate smart” capital planning and design. RYAN PARK, SOUTH NORWALK CONNECTICUT A Brownfields Success Story, Ryan Park in South Norwalk, Connecticut, was awarded $2 million in DECD grant funding to initiate Weston & Sampson’s remedial plan and address PCB and other environmental contaminates across the site and put the park back into active use for the community. CHARLES RIVER WATERSHED FLOOD MODEL Weston & Sampson worked with the Charles River Watershed Association, who, using grant funding from the Massachusetts MVP program, has developed and released the first ever comprehensive stormwater flood model for the Upper and Middle Charles River watershed. The model will aid in planning for mitigation of flooding caused by increased precipitation. BOSTON CITY HALL PLAZA RENOVATION Weston & Sampson conducted environmental and geotechnical investigations in addition to geotechnical and structural engineering for the 7-acre $70M City Hall Plaza Renovation as part of the Sasaki Associates team working for the City of Boston Public Facilities Department. PFAS REMOVAL AT PEASE INTERNATIONAL TRADEPORT Weston & Sampson provided services for PFAS removal and phased construction of an existing water treatment facility in Portsmouth, NH, which is located at the former Pease Air Force Base and listed on the US EPA’s National Priorities List (NPL). LANGONE PARK & PUOPOLO PLAYGROUND In collaboration with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD), Weston & Sampson led the community outreach, design, permitting, and construction for the comprehensive renewal of this 4.5-acre signature waterfront park in Boston’s historic North End. DRAINAGE BASIN EVALUATION & FLOOD REDUCTION STUDY Weston & Sampson was selected by the City of Charleston to perform the Church Creek Drainage Basin and Flood Reduction Study. The Basin includes over 10,000 acres of residential and commercial developments. MOAKLEY PARK RESILIENCY IMPROVEMENTS Weston & Sampson is proud to support the City of Boston and lead consultant Stoss Landscape Urbanism with advancing climate resilience along the South Boston waterfront, and improving community opportunities at Moakley Park, including technical assessments and subsurface investigations that informed design considerations for resiliency improvements.
