Featured Wellness Activity

Make a wellness plan!

The goal of this activity is to encourage employees to plan for and schedule
wellness activities that are important to them.

Key Messages

Your health is affected by many factors, including physical, emotional,
spiritual, and environmental. Improving one area can have positive effects on
other areas. It’s all interconnected!

What matters to you most? How do you support those priorities? Physical
activity, family time, hobbies, healthy meals, stress management, and
mindfulness meditation are healthy options.

Planning for and scheduling your personal goals helps you stay focused on what’s
most important to you. It reminds you to make time for yourself.

Checking your completed goals off your to-do list is like giving yourself a
“well-done!” It boosts your confidence and encourages a well-deserved feeling of
accomplishment.

3 Ways to Work this Activity

Distribute Resources

Distribute resources and key messages to employees to encourage them to plan for
and schedule time for their health and wellness goals.

Share Your Experience

Invite employees to share their favorite activity that improves their health or
wellbeing. Employees might share photos, instructions, or invite others to a
class.

Friendly Challenge

Hold a friendly challenge for employees to track their chosen wellness activity.
If you have a health portal, employees can use the easy tracking tools available
there to measure activity, water, or healthy diet options, if part of their
goal. Use any of this month’s resources to promote the challenge.

How to Make Those New Year’s Resolutions Stick

Fuel Up with Fruit

The purpose of this monthly feature is to highlight fruit as an easy and
nutritious snack, and a healthy alternative to other high calorie, low
nutrient-dense and overly processed snacks.

Pineapple

This month’s featured fruit is pineapple. Sweet and juicy with a tropical
attitude, a pineapple seems like a touch of sunshine on a winter day. Pineapples
are packed with vitamin C.

Worksite Ideas

Offer pineapple snacks during staff meetings and/or in the cafeteria.

Invite employees to share pineapple snacks with coworkers and share selfies or
recipes on your message board.

Distribute the pineapple resource to promote Fuel Up with Fruit!

Coach's Corner

This monthly feature provides another option for reinforcing a key message to
employees.

Dear Health Coach,

I feel like I am bombarded with information on how to eat healthier, improve my
fitness, simplify my life, care for my emotional health, improve work-life
balance… you get the picture. I don’t know where to start. What’s most
important?

Thank you,

Overwhelmed with good intentions

Dear Overwhelmed,

The good news is that your body and mind are so interconnected that improving in
one area of your life will have positive effects on other areas. If your doctor
asked you to make specific changes, start there. If not, choose one area that
might be easiest to fit into your lifestyle. If 30 minutes of exercise is too
difficult to fit in, see if you can fit in 10 minutes of mindfulness meditation
instead.

In Good Health,

Your Health Coach
