SEMINAR IN BRIEF The Kuala Lumpur International Pavement Seminar 2023 (KLIPS 2023), carrying the timely theme Leveraging Innovation Towards Green Technology and Resilient Pavement, stands poised to welcome worldwide delegates to the garden city of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The seminar will be held from 7 to 9 March 2023 at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. KLIPS 2023 is jointly organised by the Ministry of Works Malaysia and the departments under its wings which includes the lead organisers, the Public Works Department, Malaysia and the Road Engineering Association Malaysia (REAM), in association with the World Road Association (PIARC) and the Road Engineering Association of Asia & Australasia (REAAA). Collaborating with the renowned and iconic PIARC, this seminar offers an international platform for presenting technical papers, discussing and exchanging ideas on enthralling authoritative pavement topics, thrived by sharing of invaluable experiences from the delegates. Malaysia is a country member of PIARC via the membership of of the Public Works Department ROAD ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA (REAM) IN BRIEF The Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA) was formed in 1973 with a permanent secretariat in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The REAAA (Malaysian Chapter) was established in 1993 to facilitate technology transfer at local and international levels. In 1997, REAAA (Malaysian Chapter) was renamed Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM) to meet national aspirations. REAM aims to be Malaysia’s road industry leader and referral centre through upholding professionalism and the establishment of relevant standards for the road industry achieved through strategic positioning, research and development, training, data base management and road industry intelligence. The vision is to be a lead organisation to influence and provide direction to the road industry in Malaysia. As a PIARC National Committee for Malaysia since 2014, REAM continuously plays a significant role in facilitating national exchanges on roads and transportation. PIARC The forerunner of the renamed World Road Association, Permanent International Association of Road Congresses (PIARC), was established in Paris in 1909. Though a name change had taken place, the acronym PIARC had been retained. Today, more than a century later, this association has over 121-member countries worldwide, including Malaysia. PIARC is dedicated to foster and facilitate discussion and knowledge sharing on roads and road transport and retains consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
