I ended up making Down To Earth as a Compo entry. I’ve been getting back into gamedev these past few months, and I’ve been learning Godot (The original Down To Earth was made in Unity)! After participating in a few game jams, I wanted to test my Godot knowledge, so I remade Down To Earth in Godot. REMAKE ORIGINAL If you’re interested in checking it out, you can find it here: https://chumtimestwo.itch.io/down-to-earth-remake Also a link to the original: https://chumtimestwo.itch.io/down-to-earth 5 2 In the meanwhile, we released our Game on Steam! by UnidayStudio (@unidaystudio), published 2 weeks ago Hey folks! We just released the Steam Page for our game, Pixel Nightfall, that we’ve been working hard on it for the past year almost. It’s being done from scratch using Cave Engine and a team of 3 developers. I would appreciate it a lot if you could help us make this a reality by adding it to your Steam Wishlist. Thanks! PIXEL NIGHTFALL ON STEAM 7 2 Help Wanted! by Roitchie (@roitchie), published 3 weeks ago With less than 75 days to go until LD56 @Pegasys and I are just starting our preparations for October. We’ve made 7 games together now. 6 in a row. There are some entries we are really proud of but it’s clear to us there are areas we lack in. Namely as artists and musicians. We are programmers both as hobbyists and as our jobs but I’ve always been terrible at drawing and while @Pegasys has valiantly taken up the mantle to be our artist thus far we both agree having a skilled artist and musician would really help make our games that much better and much quicker. @Pegasys currently spends pretty much the entire last day just making art. And so we’re asking for your help. We mostly make 2D games with a pixel art aesthetic so someone with experience in that would be ideal. Here’s a few examples of the kind of art style we typically do. Although given your artistic talents will be far beyond ours we are open to different styles and suggestions on what makes the best cohesive art style If anyone has these skills but doesn’t yet have a team to work with please let us know and we can work together in October. My contact details are in my profile, I’m not sure if you can post links here so please check there for more information. 5 5 Iron-on laptop bag patches (for donations) by Shaolin Dave (@shaolin-dave), published 3 weeks ago So, I printed up a bunch of iron-on patches. My intent is that for the next jam, I’ll give them out as gifts to fellow jammers (I was thinking of having it be for the people who give the best feedback for my submission) The patches are cheaper the more you make, so I just ordered a whole much of them and threw them on Etsy. If you’d like to buy one, I’m donating all profits to Ludum Dare. FYI the Godot patch in the picture is also for sale, and I’m donating the profits for that to the Godot Foundation (€50 donated so far). https://www.etsy.com/listing/1751458445/ludum-dare-iron-on-patch 11 0 Farm and Mine from LD 48 receives a massive content update by general (@general), published 4 weeks ago Remember the theme of Ludum Dare 48? No wonder if you don’t, over 3 years passed :D Long story short, as we learnt the theme “Deeper and Deeper” we thought about a game where you first dig to harvest potatoes and carrots, and then dig deeper to mine for coal, oil and other deposits. And here is how the game looks like now! Our game is called Farm and Mine. Looks like outside links are forbidden, but by simple googling or searching on the platforms it’s possible to find it. The game is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and Web. The gameplay of Farm and Mine is focused on the production chains. For example, grain-flour-bread. Or cotton-textile-T-shirts. There are dozens of them. And the newest update just added an Ice-cream factory, which needs milk, ice and sugar. Also several new game objects and concepts are added, like tasks list, skyscrapers or marketing invention. I hope you’ll find the game fun. And for our fellow game jammers this post might be a motivation to show how a 48-hours creation can be released as a successful game. 8 1 Jumpstart Your next game jam with my shiny new git template by joesturge (@joesturge), published 5 weeks ago I’m excited to share with you a project that may help you manage the release of your game during the game jam. https://github.com/joesturge/godot-with-actions-starter This GitHub template has been meticulously crafted to kickstart your Godot game development journey. I noticed that people would lose inspiration after a while. Do any of you have suggestions for alternatives or alterations? We would like to keep the countdown fun for all :-) 16 61 Using Crowdin to translate my game by ThomasTournoys (@thomastournoys), published 7 weeks ago I’m proud to announce, I’m opening a Crowdin project to translate my game! Crowdin is a community translation platform and, being the localization nerd I am, I thought it would be great to translate my first LD game there You can find the Crowdin page here, and I also made a devlog post on itch.io explaning everything. I’m so excited and I hope to get some languages done before the v3.0 update I’m working on (Some translated variations of the logo I was working on, I actually just speak English and Portuguese and some Japanese, but I made an effort to keep the pun on the title and localize things the best that I can) 8 5 MORE LUDUM DARE 56 STARTS Days 5555 2222 Hours 0000 5555 Minutes 3333 5555 Seconds 5555 5454 Starts Saturday at 00:00 MESZ * TypeError: Failed to fetch Coming Up April 12th 2024 - Ludum Dare 55 October 4th, 2024 - Ludum Dare 56 Sponsors Ludum Dare and LDJAM are trademarks of Interactive Snacks Limited EXPLORE Ludum Dare LDJAM Event Home LDJAM Rules Schedule Learn CONNECT Contact Jobs Support Us!
