The Delaware Department of State was established in 1970 and has evolved to
encompass responsibilities in virtually every aspect of state governance. The
Department focuses on promoting Delaware's economy and fostering economic
development; preserving Delaware's heritage and showcasing the state's history;
supporting the arts and culture of Delaware; protecting the public's health,
safety, and economic welfare through regulation, licensing, and investigation;
facilitating access to educational, governmental, and recreational information;
and serving our nation's veterans.

Just(ice) Mercy"Lori Crawford, a Dover-based artist and tenured professor at
Delaware State University, has been creating art for nearly three decades. Her
latest body of work represents a transformative period in her artistic practice,
inspired by the escalating effects of climate change. "I am determined to
channel feelings of fright, anger, and frustration into creative expression,"
says Crawford.
November 20, 2024Governor Carney, DSB Announce Fall 2024 EDGE Grant Competition
AwardsGovernor John Carney joined the Division of Small Business to present
awards for the Fall 2024 winners of the Encouraging Development, Growth and
Expansion (EDGE) competition on Wednesday Nov. 20. Ten awards were presented to
Delaware small businesses in a ceremony at The Mill Space in Wilmington. Since
2019, the EDGE Grant Competition has provided support to 110 small businesses
that have received a total of $7.25 million.
