The NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 provides a common catalogue of security controls that
are widely used, globally. Whilst originally formulated for US government
agencies, it has been widely adopted by the private sector.

help you review your current controls against the standard, where the gaps are
and the priority to fixing those gaps to align with the NIST control framework

The CIS Critical Security Controls are a prescriptive, prioritized, and
simplified set of best practices that can help organisations large and small.
Previously defined as the SANS Top 20, CIS Critical Security Controls now cover
the top 18 areas of concern and priority that an organisation needs to have
controls, policies, process and procedures to address.
