COMING SOON: A TASK TIMER TO KEEP TRACK OF TIME ENTRIES WITHOUT RELYING ON
MEMORY

Scheduling work and tracking time in separate apps can add up fast, and can
create data sync issues. Starting the timer based on your scheduled tasks
directly in Float means you don’t have to add project details for every task you
time, and there’s no need to export task durations to timesheets. You can
compare your estimates to actuals without worrying about any data being lost
between tools.

UPDATES TO FLOAT’S DATA PROCESSING AGREEMENT

In December 2022, we updated Float’s Data Processing Agreement (DPA) to
incorporate Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as published by the European
Commission on June 4, 2021. These SCCs are in compliance with the General Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR) that addresses data transfers originating from the
European Economic Area.

View Float’s Data Protection Agreement.

Why has Float made these updates?

The security and privacy of our customers are a priority, and we treat data
compliance as a foundation—not just a feature. We’ve made these updates to our
DPA to ensure that we meet security compliance standards for our customers
globally and that Float’s policies on security, data, and privacy are easy for
customers to access and understand.

When will this be effective?

This DPA will automatically become part of your service agreement with Float,
effective from December 6, 2022.

What do I have to do?

All Float customers are part of our online DPA service agreement, and no action
is required. If you have questions about your DPA with Float, please get in
touch with us at support@float.com.

Are you planning any other changes to your security policies?

The security of our customers and the protection of your data is something that
we take seriously at Float. We’re proud to always seek new ways to strengthen
our security and resilience controls and meet best-in-class compliance
standards. Currently, we’re SOC 2 Type 1 certified. You can read more about our
measures to achieve this compliance here. These recent updates to our DPA mean
that we can better support GDPR requirements for our EU and UK customers.

If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

API UPDATE: A NEW PUBLIC HOLIDAY ENDPOINT FOR 2023

We’ve released a new, dedicated public holidays endpoint for Float’s API.
Starting in 2023, public holidays will be removed from the time off endpoint.

The public holidays endpoint lists all public holidays available for your team.
You can map team members against these holidays using a new region field on the
people endpoint response. This will function in the same way as other team-wide
holidays.

WHAT ACTION DO YOU NEED TO TAKE?

We recommend working with your development team to set up the public holidays
endpoint before the end of the year. Doing so will ensure your team’s
availability is transferred accurately from Float to your integrated
applications and that you continue to get all of your essential data.

For more information, check out our API documentation. If you have any
questions, please reach out to us at support@float.com.

A STREAMLINED MANAGER ROLE WITH FLEXIBLE PERMISSIONS AND TIME OFF APPROVALS

We’re combining project and department manager access into a single Manager
role—with personalized permissions that provide clarity around who manages what
within your team. Additionally, people managers can now approve time off
requests for team members who report directly to them.

Check out the quick walkthrough below for more on the new Manager access and
time off approval workflow.

This update will be applied to all accounts the week of December 5, 2022. Or you
can make the switch now and join 1,000+ teams who have already turned on the new
permissions! An Admin or Account Owner can click Get Started in your Team
settings in Float.
