SASSA Status Check: Millions of vulnerable South Africans receive monthly cash
assistance from the (SASSA). Recipients of this social assistance can sustain
their families and pay for the necessities of life. Old age pensions, disability
grants, child support grants, foster care grants, care dependence awards, and
grant-in-aid are several forms of SASSA funds.

You may want to check the status of your application for an SASSA grant, whether
you have applied for one or are presently receiving one. Fortunately, SASSA has
made it possible to quickly and easily verify the status of your grant online in
a few simple steps. Everything you need to know about using this extensive guide
to check the status of your SASSA grant online will be explained.

WHAT IS THE SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIAL SECURITY AGENCY?

Since its founding in April 2005, the South African Social Security Agency, or
Millions of South Africans, have significantly benefited from the vital work
done by the organization known by its loving acronym, SASSA. The Department of
Social Development (DSD) developed SASSA, which functions as a social welfare
guardian angel, in response to the urgent need for a comprehensive social
security system in South Africa.

SASSA has been a pillar of support from the organization’s founding to the
present (2023), ensuring that families and vulnerable persons have a safety net
to rely on.

The SASSA has been a symbol of optimism throughout history, growing from modest
beginnings to a diverse organization that affects many people’s lives.

Its efficiency and reach have increased as it has adjusted to the constantly
shifting requirements of South Africa’s heterogeneous populace. The goal of
SASSA has remained constant with every year that has gone by: to improve the
general well-being of the country’s people, lessen inequality, and alleviate
poverty.

As we examine SASSA’s history, it’s important to remember that, as of 2022, 46%
of South Africans had received a social grant from the organization. This figure
demonstrates how much influence SASSA has, which makes it an essential part of
South Africa’s social fabric.

SASSA STATUS CHECK @SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA – SRD R350 STATUS

SASSA offers an online service called SASSA Status Check. Both applicants and
beneficiaries can keep an eye on grant applications and their current status or
benefit disbursements.

SASSA confirms that your application for the SASSA award or any other social
grant meets all eligibility requirements. The SASSA progress Check is an
application verification tool that can provide quick information on your
application’s progress.

Using the SASSA SRD Status Check, you may quickly determine if your application
has been sent for reconsideration, reapplication, or submission. Using the tool,
you may find out in real time if your application is being reviewed, accepted,
or needs further information. You can use the tool to verify when your benefits,
if granted, will be paid. Recipients of SASSA grants can better budget for
future expenses by tracking the receipt of their subsequent payments.

Only South African citizens, either currently or in the past, can use the tool.
The application requests identity information, such as your ID number or
reference number, to safely access your application or give access.

SASSA PAYMENT DATES FOR 2024 – 2025 @SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA

The South African government said that the payment schedule would be disclosed
each month after the preceding month and that there is no set timetable for
receiving the SRD grant. Grant recipients will get financial assistance for each
qualifying month. To verify your SASSA payment dates and determine your
eligibility for each month, you must complete the monthly status check for your
payment.

SASSA has issued the following payment dates for 2024–2025; however, there may
still be delays because of public holidays or other unanticipated events.

WHAT IS SASSA SRD R350 GRANT?

During the COVID-19 epidemic, SASSA launched the Social Relief Distress (SRD)
R350 award. It attempts to accommodate people’s financial demands when they
cannot provide for their fundamental necessities: eligibility determination,
application processing, and payment distribution, which fall within the purview
of SASSA. The SASSA’s SRD R350 award supports South Africa’s economic growth and
social welfare. Those who apply for the award and who are unemployed or
low-income families will get R350 per month in temporary financial help if they
do not receive funding from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).

OVERVIEW OF SRD R350 APPLICATION STATUS EXPECTED RESULTS:

One of the following outcomes will appear when you check your SASSA SRD status.
I’ll go over each result below, along with what it means and what has to be
done.

 * Application Completed: This indicates that your SRD R350 grant application,
or reapplication, has been finished. It will be reviewed each month before
being granted. While this shows that you are getting closer to receiving
payments, it does not ensure you will receive the grant funds.
 * Application Approved Status: Your SASSA grant application has been approved
if you see “Approved Status.” The grant money will be awarded to you upon
approval. You will receive approval notification via letter, email, or SMS.
The funds can then be received via your bank account, a Post Office account,
or a cash card, depending on your preference.
 * Application Status: If your SASSA status is Declined, it indicates that SASSA
has denied your application because you did not satisfy the requirements.
Additionally, SASSA will provide you with an explanation for their denial.
 * Application Status Pending: When an application is listed as “pending,” it
indicates that SASSA has received it but needs additional time to evaluate
and confirm the information before approving it. After they have completed
their verifications, your status will be altered, and you will be informed of
whether your grant has been approved or refused.
 * Identity Verification Failed: This indicates an issue with the identity
verification process. SASSA could not verify your information against the
Department of Home Affairs (DHA) databases.
 * Bank data Pending: Although SASSA has received your application or
reapplication, you have not chosen a preferred payment method or supplied the
banking data. You must enter your banking information on the SASSA website or
select your preferred method (Cash Send or Bank).
 * Reapplication Pending Status: This indicates that your grant application for
the SASSA R350 has not been renewed. You ought to use the SRD website to
apply. Created in reaction to COVID-19, the SASSA R350 stipend was expanded
to assist its fellow citizens in need. All citizens who are unemployed and in
need must reapply for the award.
 * The status of the period pending is always indicated as a single month, for
example, “period December pending.” It means that verifying your
reapplication for that particular month is ongoing. Until the payment date is
sent to you, you should frequently check your status for this month.
 * Period authorized Status: The authorized period is usually indicated for a
particular month, for example, “January approved period.” It suggests that
your application has been accepted for that specific month. Search for the
“payday” box to view your payment date. The payment has not yet been
processed if the field is empty.
 * Status of Period Declined: The period declined is usually displayed for a
particular month, such as “period October declined.” This indicates that
SASSA has rejected your application for that specific month for good reasons.
You can use the website to request reconsideration if you believe the
rationale is unjustified and you are qualified for the award.
 * Application Canceled Status: This indicates the termination of your grant.
You can use the website to reinstate your funding if you so want.

TYPES OF SASSA GRANTS:

SASSA SRD R370:

The SASSA SRD R370 Grant, also known as the Social Relief of Distress Grant, is
awarded to jobless South Africans or asylum seekers residing inside South
Africa’s borders and experiencing financial difficulties fulfilling their basic
needs. Before October 2023, the monthly assistance amount was 350 Rand. Later, a
SASSA official raised it to 370 Rand each month, and as of right now, the SASSA
is awarding R370 SRD grants.

SASSA LOANS:

“Grant loans” and “social grant loans” are other terms for SASSA loans. The
SASSA award beneficiaries get these loans from banks, financial institutions,
and microlenders. Both the source of the loans and a direct participant in their
provision are not SASSA.

Because the lenders making these loans view your SASSA grant as a reliable
source of income, they base their loan decision on the grant amount you get.
This means you will not be eligible to receive the whole loan amount unless you
demonstrate that your income can cover the loan balance through a monthly SASSA
grant installment.

SASSA CHILD SUPPORT GRANT:

An equivalent Child Support award is given by SASSA to the primary caregiver of
a child under the age of eighteen. If an adult who is 16 or older monitors and
is responsible for the child’s welfare, they may act as a substitute caregiver.
The allowance covers the family’s income shortfall. As a result, fundamental
necessities for kids, including food, clothing, and education, are met.

Foster parents, single parents, and other specific groups get the Child Support
Grant. Family caregivers may use up to six grants to pay for expenses associated
with children for whom they are not legally or familially liable.

SASSA DISABILITY GRANT:

SASSA provides a variety of grants to assist persons in need. The SASSA
Disability Grant is available from SASSA to help those in need who are disabled
and unable to work. This stipend might assist disabled individuals in lessening
their financial load and maintaining a respectable living level.

GRANT IN AID:

One of SASSA’s most helpful projects is grant in aid. Individuals who fulfill
the requirements are eligible to receive the Grant in Aid for unexpected
expenses such as paying for medical care or electricity bills. One of the
fastest and most immediate forms of financial assistance offered by SASSA to
anyone is Grant in Aid.

SASSA APPLICATION ONLINE:

 9. Another message will confirm that you have requested to modify your mobile
     number.

To update your contact information with SASSA without an OTP, follow these steps
if your phone is stolen or you misplace the SIM card linked to your application.

 1. The SASSA administrators advise reporting this occurrence to SASSA
immediately if you misplaced your cell phone number.

    SASSA: SASA Govt. Za/Srd.sc19/auth

 5. To express your choice, select Yes or No.
 6. A message stating, “Unauthorized cell phone number change report
successfully submitted to SASSA,” will be sent to you if you accept.

SASSA MEANS TEST:

To ensure that only worthy people receive the grant, the Means Test computes the
applicant’s financial situation, including their income, assets, and other
economic criteria. Should the applicant’s assets or income exceed the SASSA
means test criteria, they will not be eligible for the award.

The means test requirements for each grant category vary to assess financial
eligibility. Grants for the elderly, disabled, and veterans of war, for
instance, are all awarded on a sliding scale; that is to say, the more private
income you have, the less money you will receive in grants.

A married person’s income and assets are determined jointly with their spouse.
Whether they got married on communal land or not makes no difference. Assets and
income are entirely dependent on single individuals.

I covered each grant’s income and asset thresholds in this context. You may find
out how much SASSA pays you by reading this page. To apply for the SASSA social
grant, make sure you have read the text thoroughly and understand the means test
requirements. The maximum income and asset criteria that will be in effect as of
April 2023 are covered here. Remember that these figures fluctuate every year on
April 1 or October 1.

INCOME THRESHOLD FOR ALL SASSA GRANTS:

Age, Disabilities, Aid, and War Veterans’ Grant: A single individual’s monthly
income cannot exceed R8 070 (or R96 840 annually). The combined annual revenue
of a married couple should not exceed R193 680 (or R16 140 a month).

 * Child Support Grant: A single person’s monthly income (or R60,000 annually)
as the child’s primary caregiver should not exceed R5,000. The combined
annual revenue of the married applicant (the child’s principal caretaker) and
their spouse should not exceed R120 000 (or R10,000 per month).
 * Care Dependency Grant: A single parent’s or child’s primary caregiver’s
monthly income cannot exceed R20 800 (or R249 600 annually). The combined
annual revenue of the married applicant (parent or primary caregiver of the
kid) and their spouse should not exceed R499 200 (or R41 600 per month).
 * Foster Child Grant: No means test for eligibility for a Foster Child Grant.
The Social Relief of Distress Grant requires that your monthly income not
   exceed R624.
 * The asset threshold for all SASSA grants is R1 372 800. An individual cannot
possess assets worth more than this amount. A married person’s combined
   assets with their spouse shouldn’t exceed R2 745 600.

WHAT DOES THE SASSA MEANS TEST DEFINE AS INCOME?

According to SASSA, the following are regarded as sources of income:

 * Receiving a gift from a private pension
 * Making money through farming or other business ventures
 * Getting financial support from loved ones or friends
 * Renting out a section of your home to generate income
 * payments for child support from a former spouse
 * Earning money through employment
 * leasing a home that you own
 * Reimbursement from additional sources, such as the Road Accident Fund (RAF)
   and the (UIF).

SASSA SRD R350 GRANTS STATUS CHECK: (SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA STATUS)

You may monitor the progress of your SASSA application and payment online in a
few different ways. I’ll go over each technique I’ve personally tried one by
one. However, please make sure you have the following two things before
verifying your SASSA status:

 * Your ID number in South Africa
 * The cellphone number you provided in your SASSA application is your phone
   number.

Once you have them, please verify your SASSA status by following the below
steps.

SGSC WEBSITE:

The simplest method to find out your status is to use the status checker on this
page, which is located above:

 * Navigate to the SASSA Status Check form at the top of this page.
 * Enter the numbers from your cell phone and your South African ID card.
 * Select the option labeled “Check Status.”
 * Your current status will shown just below the form.

SASSA STATUS VIA THE INTERNET AT SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA:

The procedures to verify your status online at srd.sassa.gov.za are as follows:

 * Use the following link to access the official SASSA website:
   https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.
 * Once on the website, enter the cell phone number you used to apply and your
   current South African ID number.
 * Click the “submit” button after that. Your current status will appear on the
   screen right away.

It is an easy way to quickly and conveniently check your status without
traveling anywhere.

SASSA STATUS CHECK VIA MOYA APP:

Using the Moya App to verify the status of an SRD application is another
approach I enjoy. You only need an internet connection to download the program;
this is a data-free option.

You may check your status offline after downloading the Moya app, eliminating
the need for the internet. The actions that you must take are as follows:

 * Get the Moya app from the Play Store (an internet connection is needed for
   this step).
 * Open the app after downloading it, go to the “Discovery” page, and choose the
   “SASSA GRANT.”
 * Next, choose “SASSA SRD status” from the menu, then press “Application
   Status.”
 * After entering your mobile number and ID number, press the “submit” button.
 * When you press the submit button, your status will instantly appear on the
   screen.

SASSA STATUS CHECK THROUGH SMS:

The procedures below can be used to Check the status of your SASSA permit by SMS
as well:

 * Open your phone’s text messaging app.
 * Click “SASSA [ID Number]” as the message. Your legitimate South African ID
   should be your ID number.
 * This message should be sent to 082 046 8553.
 * A response detailing your current SASSA R350 grant status will be sent to
   you.

SASSA SRD R350 STATUS CHECK VIA WHATSAPP:

You may also use WhatsApp to check the status of your application if you are
having trouble accessing the portal. The steps are as follows:

 * To begin with, add 082 046 8553 as a phone number to your WhatsApp contact
   list.
 * Now, text the WhatsApp number with the phrase “SASSA.”
 * Reply with “STATUS” following the response.
 * When prompted in the conversation to provide a reference number, respond
“YES” (but only if you already have the number).
 * You will now be prompted for your cellphone number; enter the number you used
to register for the SRD award. Then, respond to the message with your
   reference number.
 * Your current status will be included in the response you receive.

CHECK YOUR R350 STATUS VIA CALL:

You can verify the payment progress by calling the SASSA center at 0800 601 011
if you choose not to use the online or messaging option to check your status.
Suppose you believe you need to speak with a live person to confirm your status.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CHECK YOUR SASSA STATUS OFTEN?

It’s critical to monitor your SASSA status because:

 * It updates you on the status of your application for a social grant.
 * You may verify if your papers are accurate and whether you comply with
   SASSA’s criteria.
 * It assists you in remembering when payments are expected and gaining access
   to grant distribution information.
 * You will be informed if your application is being processed slowly or has to
   be reconsidered.
 * Keeping track of your bank details and award payments is more
   straightforward.
 * Your social assistance problems can be resolved quickly.
 * Guarantees you get the benefits and financial assistance you are entitled to
   on time.

Beginning in April 2022, if your application was denied at any stage, you can
file an appeal by going to the Department of Social Development’s (DSD) appeals
website. Appeals must be filed with the Independent Tribunal for Social
Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) within ninety days of the refusal.

 1. Use this link to access the DSD website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals.
 2. To file an appeal or check its status, click this button.
 3. Enter your registered phone number and the 13-digit number on your African
ID card to obtain a PIN.
 4. A PIN will be sent via SMS. On the website, enter this PIN.
 5. Choose the month in which your grant was denied. (Note: Submit distinct
appeals every month that an SRD award is denied.)
 6. Add the required papers (identity, evidence of residency, bank records for
    the last six months, etc.).
 7. Give a brief justification for your appeal.
 8. After adding the necessary papers and explaining your appeal, submit the
    form.

Your appeal will be reviewed by an impartial tribunal upon submission, and a

your favor, they will reverse the SASSA’s ruling, and you will begin to receive
payments for the SRD awards; if your appeal is denied, you will be informed.

SASSA RECONSIDERATION STATUS CHECK:

You may follow the status of your reapplication if your SASSA grant application
was denied and you followed the steps to submit an SASSA Reapplication and
request reconsideration using the SASSA Reapplication site. A (OTP) will be sent
to you once you complete the required fields and press the Send Pin button to
verify that you are the original applicant. The status of your reconsideration
will then be quickly shown for your convenience in the same section.

SASSA PAYMENT NOT RECEIVED:

There might be several reasons why your SASSA R350 grant payment hasn’t arrived
yet. If you are already a beneficiary, weekends, public holidays, verification
checks, and processing times may be to blame for the delay.

Ensure your payment method is chosen, and your contact information is correct
before addressing the problem. If you discover any errors, amend your banking
information and contact data by contacting Change SASSA Phone Number. This will
guarantee that your application is current. If you are still having trouble
getting your grant money, please be patient and consider contacting PostBank for
technical support.

It is recommended that current recipients of SASSA get in touch with SASSA
immediately if they haven’t received their payment. Check your SASSA status to
determine if your grant has been canceled or is still valid. You can contact the
national authorities’ 0800 60 10 11 toll-free mobile phone center for quick
assistance.

SASSA R350 APPLICATION APPEAL STATUS:

The procedures listed below should be followed if your application for the SRD
grant was denied and you successfully filed your SASSA Appeal application
through the Department of Social Development website on the Independent Tribunal
for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). At this point, you should check the
status of your R350 appeal for approval.

 1. Go to sassacheck.com to find out the status of your SRD R350 appeal.
 2. Enter the account that was used to submit the Sassa R350 application.
 3. From the ‘Application Status’ box, choose “R350 Appeal Status”.
 4. Put in your application reference number and ID number.
 5. To see the current status of your R350 appeal, click “submit.”

After completing these actions, a message with further information will be sent
to you, and your status will be shown. You can edit your Sassa grant application
by clicking on the link if your contact details need to be changed. This step
aids in the success of your appeal, and you will get an SMS enabling you to
retrieve your funds.

SASSA STATUS APPROVED, BUT NO SMS RECEIVED:

This problem might be caused by inaccurate contact information, a typo in your
application, insufficient cash, problems with the phone network signal, or a
system breakdown. The fact that your Sassa Status is Approved without an SMS
puts you in danger since it keeps you from getting paid by the Post Office, Pick
n Pay, and retail establishments. Take these actions to solve this.

 1. Await any possible SMS delays for a few days.
 2. For account or system problems, get in touch with your bank.
 3. Check your phone number in the SASSA database.
 4. After a few days, if there is still no SMS, contact the SASSA helpdesk at
    0800 601 011.
 5. If the problem continues and your bank certifies that no money has been
received, visit the closest SASSA office for immediate assistance.

VERIFY IF SASSA APPROVED YOUR GRANT APPLICATION:

You may check your status online to see if your application has been accepted.
This is how to determine the status of your Social Relief of Distress R350
award.

 1. Go to https://sassacheck.com/ to access the SASSA status check page.
 2. Input your registered mobile number and your South African ID.
 3. When you’re ready to submit your request, Enter Check Status.
 4. The screen will display your R350 status.

The national agency service also notifies the registered applicant’s phone
number and the month’s paycheck awarded by SMS.

HOW TO COLLECT SASSA SRD PAYMENTS:

Every month after the preceding month, SASSA announces the payment schedule. The
payment dates for July 2024 are now available. Remember that you may only pick
up your SRD grant payment after the status check and after getting an SMS each
month verifying that you paid.

Three options are available to you for getting your money:

 1. Direct Deposit of Grant Funds into Your Bank Account: If you have chosen a
bank account as your payment method and submitted your account information
with your SASSA application, the grant funds will be sent straight into your
bank account. You can visit the bank branch or any ATM to withdraw it.
 2. Getting Paid With an SASSA Card: If you own an SASSA Card, you can get free
cash out of ATMs and shops that the SASSA has chosen.
 3. Using Cash Payment Method: You must pick up your grant money in cash from
the following SASSA-partnered retail locations or local Post Office branches
(SAPO/Post Bank) if you failed to supply the bank information and do not own
    an SASSA card.

 * Pick n Pay
 * Shoprite
 * Boxer
 * Checkers
 * Usave
 * Spar

Please take the following actions to withdraw grant funds from SASSA-selected
retailers:

 1. To prevent long lines, visit the SASSA-partnered store early in the morning
with your Application ID and South African ID Card.
 2. Inform the clerk that you would want to take out the grant money.
 3. Give the cashier your ID card and application ID.
 4. After confirming your information, they will give you the money and a
    receipt.

For future reference, kindly store the receipt in a secure location.

WHY SASSA STATUS FAILED:

If your identity verification is unsuccessful, your SASSA status check is
unsuccessful. This happens when the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) data and
your details don’t match. You will need to update your SASSA online application
and fix any errors to fix this problem.

WHY SASSA STATUS DECLINED:

The application was refused, or the SASSA Status Check was denied for a month
due to the Means Test and the SASSA review procedure. This status may be applied
to both new applicants and current beneficiaries if they fail to satisfy the
Means Test standards. This evaluation looks at income levels and situational
changes, such as a rise in your bank balance over R624.

If you receive a decline notification, you can correct your SASSA Declined Grant
application after reviewing the grounds for clarification.

 * Your assets and income levels are above the R624 minimum.
 * Benefits under UIF, NSFAS, or SARS are recorded with your ID.
 * The reason for your unemployment has changed.
 * The SASSA Means Test identifies a different source of income.
 * Your age does not meet the requirements for the sought award.

WHEN SASSA R350 GRANT ENDS:

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the SASSA R350 award at a news conference in
late 2022. Acknowledging its mandatory function in providing for the necessities
of around 7 million people, he verified the continuation of this significant
aid.

This is excellent news for individuals who rely on the R350 stipend to pay for
their basic living needs. With this extension, the SASSA R350 award will now be
guaranteed until March 2024. Extensions may be possible if the government works
hard to acquire extra funding.

HOW TO CHECK SASSA BALANCE?

For online balance queries, you can use your bank app to view the status of your
SASSA balance. Applicants who have updated their bank information for the SASSA
grant may be eligible. You may check your balance on your phone by using the
balance inquiry code *120*3210# if you’re using an alternative payment method.

SASSA PAYMENT STATUS CHECK ON GOVCHAT:

With the Govchat app, you may use an online payment status check. By visiting
https://govchat.app/, candidates may register for the official South African
government platform, Govchat, using their cell phone number. To display the
current payment dates, type Sassa in a message to the official agent and send
Status.

OPERATING HOURS OF SASSA BRANCHES:

The SASSA branches are open from 7:30 to 8:00 AM on Friday and closed from 4:30
to 5:00 PM on Monday through Friday. Remembering that each branch may have
different precise opening and closing hours is crucial. Furthermore, please note
that SASSA branches are closed on public holidays and weekends.

It would be best if you were early at SASSA branches to avoid lengthy lines.
Think about packing necessities for your comfort while waiting. You can appoint
a family member to apply or visit on your behalf if you cannot attend a branch
because of an illness or disability. This will guarantee that you can still get
the required services.

Individuals in South Africa can monitor the progress of their applications for
social grants and benefit payments by using the helpful tool SASSA Status Check.
This online platform ensures transparency and a seamless experience for
beneficiaries and SASSA applicants with its tools for tracking payment dates and
real-time updates.

Relying on essential social services necessitates being educated. The SASSA
Status Check tool is a convenient and easily accessible resource that may assist
individuals in navigating the application process with ease. With this program,
South Africans may always be informed and in control of the status of their
applications while receiving the help they need.
