TMRS WELCOMES THE CITIES OF NEVADA, BEASLEY AND ALMA

The cities of Nevada, Beasley, and Alma joined TMRS on March 1 to bring the
total participating cities to 924.

Nevada, an “Old town with new vision,” is poised for the future in the
southeastern corner of rapidly growing Collin County. The Fort Bend County City
of Beasley is located near the intersection of several transport crossroads,
including the Southern Pacific Railroad. Finally, the City of Alma, once an
important stagecoach station along the Waxahachie-Marshall line, is now part of
flourishing Ellis County.

TMRS welcomes these communities to its growing number of participating cities!

GRAND SALINE: ONE OF TMRS' FIRST PARTICIPATING CITIES

To celebrate TMRS’ 75th anniversary, we will be showcasing our first eight
member cities throughout the year. This month, we’re highlighting the East Texas
city of Grand Saline, which is located about 70 miles east of Dallas.

Since the area was first settled by the Caddo and Cherokee Indians, life in
Grand Saline has revolved around the large salt deposits located there. In the
1930s, up to 500 tons of salt per day were produced in the salt mines of Grand
Saline. This 250-million-year-old salt dome is the largest in the United States
and extends 20,000 feet below ground. We are honored that a city of such rich
history and natural wonder has been our partner for the past 75 years.
