Open this door and peek into the mind of a confused child whose body moves and
speaks with reckless abandon.  Follow him into elementary school where he
searches for an adult to help him explain his chaotic behaviors, his inability
to learn, and the reasons behind his private hell.  Joe’s stories are, in the
beginning, the sad and poignant memories of a befuddled boy living in the 1960s
with undiagnosed Tourette syndrome.  When he reaches his turbulent teen years,
he uses humor and dogged determination to cope with the devastating bullying and
rejection in his life.  Somehow you find yourself laughing at and with him.  The
son of divorced parents, the nephew in a Mafia-connected family, the school’s
class clown, a homeless sixteen year old, and a drug-and alcohol-abusing
twenty-something has a colorful story to tell. He spends ten years hitchhiking
from coast to coast, searching for somewhere to call home, surviving attempts on
his life (one ordered by his own family), spending time behind bars, and
learning the invaluable lessons of a life mislead.  These experiences provide
this character with his many heartbreaking and raucously funny tales.  You will
cheer for Joe as he tunnels his way through the nearly insurmountable roadblocks
placed in his path.  He will surprise and entertain you with the stories that
made the author say, “Joe, you ought to write a book.”


About the Author - Diane E. Pompili  Diane Pompili was born in Youngstown,
Ohio.  She married her husband Joseph in 1980, is the mother of two grown
children, Daniel and Joelle and presently resides in Poland, Ohio.  She has been
a partner in the several businesses created with Joe.  Her days are spent
listening to and laughing at Joe’s tales and loving her quiet life.
