ABOUT THE SPECIALIST PELVIC FLOOR SERVICE

The Specialist Pelvic Floor Service is a sub speciality service of colorectal
surgery and specifically focuses on the management of complex proctology, rectal
prolapse, defecatory disorders, incontinence and constipation. Dr Claire Warden
is the senior specialist female consultant providing this Specialist Pelvic
Floor Service to you.

For private and international patients, Dr Claire Warden provides this
Specialist Pelvic Floor Service in the Digestive Diseases Centre at the premises
of UCT Private Academic Hospital (UCTPAH) in Cape Town, 1st Floor D18, L Block
New Main Building, Anzio Road, Observatory, 7925, South Africa.



For public patients, Dr Claire Warden provides this Specialist Pelvic Floor
Service at the premises of the Groote Schuur Hospital Complex in Cape Town, Main
Road, Observatory, 7935, South Africa.

Dr Claire Warden, the first female colorectal surgeon to qualify in South
Africa, did a Pelvic Floor specialist fellowship at Southampton General Hospital
in the United Kingdom and performed the first sacral nerve stimulator implant
for a public patient in South Africa. She now manages complex proctology, rectal
prolapse, defecatory disorders, incontinence and constipation, working closely
with her colleagues in urogynaecology and urology in order to provide a
comprehensive pelvic floor assessment and treatment plan.

Dr Claire Warden, on the 16th of May 2022, performed the first ever colorectal
robotic surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. Using the
robotic instead of laparoscopic approach provides significantly higher clarity
and accuracy during the surgical procedure and thus has a  better outcome for
the patient as does laparoscopic over open surgery.
